Re: Lurking in the background FL? 782C

you're right its not an 8, I was trying to zoom in but only got so far before I was unable to read it.
Yes now I can see the rear a little clearer it has been butchered somewhat.

Shame to see it rusting away though.

Lurking in the background FL? 782C

Whilst looking at V8 powered Mercedes I came across this image showing a 1965 Morris Minor lurking in the undergrowth. I see the registration as FLN 782C but there is no trace of that number, FLM 782C is shown as a white Minor. I wonder of the owner of FLM 782C is a member?

Re: 1098 Gearbox Rebuild

The reverse idler shaft I fitted to my 1275 gearbox was a nice snug fit, I was able to slide it in with finger pressure once oiled, it came out the same way. I take it the marks on the shaft in the picture are caused by the removal process? On a side note I didn't have to use a hammer on any of the ...

Re: Duckhams classic fuel additive or valvemaster

I don't think an additive will protect your rubber from ethanol but for whats its worth I used to run my Hillman Imp on Valvemaster but that was a freshly rebuilt engine with standard valves and after running it for a couple of years on road rallies etc it was running sweet as a nut. Being an alumi...

Re: Duckhams classic fuel additive or valvemaster

I’m not sure that anecdotal recommendations for these products count for very much. If you use an additive and your engine doesn’t break has the magic product saved it or maybe it wasn’t going to break anyway. Probably not, but in my case I found the Imp engine ran somewhat quieter and never caused...

Re: 1098 Gearbox Rebuild

Great photos. I can't imagine why the gearbox was noisy  :) BTW There is a demonstration of the jubilee clip / zip tie method on youtube somewhere--much cheaper than the cup-type tool I referred to earlier. There is also the clear plastic bag method, which can be combined with other methods t...

I don't know the ins and outs of servers and forums (Fora?) but as a member of a number of different forums I can say this and one other have a lot of down time, the remainder seem to carry on regardless of content. But having said that this forum is clear and concise to use with an easy to find sea...

Re: interesting inlet manifold

Well that is a strange one.
maybe the smaller carb is being used for the tickover and the second carb comes in on full throttle?

Possibly drag racing??

Just a guess.

Re: Use of Metro rear drums on a Minor.

As someone who will be relying heavily on my handbrake once my car is out on the hills I find this post very useful. I will be sourcing a set of Metro drums to add to my ever growing list of parts to be fitted to my Minor. As ever Phil, thanks for bringing the information to light. I live in Dartmo...

I wonder if the rusty car is still around?

Is Chris still a member?

So many questions....

Re: Stale petrol

I had to clean the fuel system on my old mini 1275GT which was fitted with twin tanks, I cannot forget the horrible smell of stale fuel, nor the gunk it left behind.
Get rid of the stale fuel and treat your car to some fresh stuff, it will repay you in the long run.

Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor

I'm afraid to tell you but that rust looks like it needs to be cut out and welded properly otherwise it will spread.
Having gone so far I would cut it out and repair it.

I had a conversation with a friend of mine who is a painter and decorator, he is colour blind but manages to get by without issue.

ULJ 593 1957 Log book

Hi all I'm a member of the Mercedes owners club and a member on there has inherited a large number of old buff log books from his deceased father and amongst them is a 1957 Morris Minor log book with the registration number ULJ 593. Although the number appears to be out of use it may ring a bell wit...

Re: Electric Cars

Gov now announce the banning of all new petrol and diesel cars by 2030, yes, 10 years time! Following this, it is likely that they will then eventually want to phase out petrol/diesel itself so will be impossible to drive the older vehicles. Of course, an electric Minor has already been produced bu...

I would agree its to compensate for a fully loaded vehicle, luggage and passengers then allowing for suspension movement and eventually worn springs to avoid any suspension/body interference.

I cannot see the images you have posted, maybe others can and will comment.
If it helps you, I have a couple of videos on you tube showing how I tackled the floors on my 1965 2 door.
