If the engines out, take it to an engineering shop for their impact wrench or failing that contact a mobile tyre fitter with impact facilities.

Seems to me that the head (the bit with the pointer on) has gone sticky as it's lubricant has dried out. It may be possible to dismantle it for cleaning and re oiling - I would go for a light lube such as a touch of 3 in1.

I've removed a couple of crankshaft bolts with an impact wrench and couldn't believe how easy they come undone. I spent much more time getting the compressor unearthed, finding airlines, correct sockets etc than actually doing it!

I sealed mine with a black neutral cure (non corrosive) silicone sealant forming a small fillet with a fine (uncut) nozzle and I must say it looks quite neat, and keeps the water out!

Evostick sounds good, my seal has come off once already after using a spray adhesive, if it comes off again I shall go the evostick way!

I once made up a cradle to hold a Triumph engine (mainly to stop it rolling about the floor) but decided to have it running - no gearbox. Just a short length of exhaust and a small container for water circulation. Things that i remember are:- The noise - pretty loud and smoky (would need a silencer ...

I find that unless corroded solid the rear part of the suspension arm is free to move on the spline, which it will do, and backwards.
Yes it can be hit with a hammer, but mine is painted and it seemed a sensible way to centre it all.
Thats all

Nor me! no hang I wrote it! I have not got any pics, sorry. Well, with the torsion bar fixed to the cross member and the suspension arm hanging down ready for jacking. At this stage I have found it beneficial to bolt the front (pressed steel) section of the suspension on. This has the effect of pull...

Thanks for response. I have a link in the chain so it is potentially possible to join it to a new (linked) chain and pull it into position. I don't have the engine stripped down, just in the air with the sump off!

Changing Timing Chain

So there I am, car in the air with sump off to change the crankshaft shells which have done about 80000 since the engine was rebuilt. The engine was running ok with good oil pressure and no 'mains rumble' but I thought it a goog idea to re shell to avoid any crank damage. From my records I knew the ...

I have been thinking of fitting an alternator but have been put off a bit by the large 'B' section belt used on the sidevalve. You would have to fit (make?) a wider pulley to the alternator.

It would be worth taking it to your local office. I was in the same situation as you and sent it off to DVLA, worse thing I could ever have done, it took ages, they lost it and wanted me to pay for a replacement of what I had sent them, which was wrong as that is why I sent it to them in the first p...

I thought the Cowley Minors went through a 'rotadip' rust preventative process clearly missing in the Dutch videos I/we know they have still gone rusty but apart from the guy with the large brush on the floorpan not much else appears to have been done. I believe the majority of CKD were virtually fi...
