Re: Indicator stalk warning light problem

+ 1 for JowettJavelin's suggestions. When you pull out the wiring , clean up the pin on the flasher ( marked P ) and the bullets on the flasher wiring. A good " polish " with sand paper or emery cloth will ensure you have a decent electrical connection. Make sure the wire itself hasn't bee...

Re: Droopy door

A definitive answer..... brace yourself... like so many things in life ... No. The Forum will need some more info from you before the causes can be defined and possible " cures " suggested. First off, how much droop 1/2 cm or nearer 5cm .Is the body work around the A post area sound. Are t...

Your AUD368 carb should be on a Austin Morris 1100 1971-1974. Morris Minors late should be AUD13.Both are A series engines so I wouldn't change it , unless the cash is really burning a hole in your pocket. Follow the guy's advice.Tighten up what is loose , check out the return spring and oil in the ...

Re: Green/ brown wire near dynamo

Well done on getting it started. Green / Brown wire , still work in progress. So the indicators are working fine ? We can't rule out it being for something else , when a former owner used a Green / brown wire to power something , just because that was the only bit of spare wire he / she had laying a...

Re: Green/ brown wire near dynamo

Are your indicators working ? A Green / Brown wire supplies power from the Flasher unit ( Terminal L = lights ) to the indicator / flasher switch. The other two terminals being B =battery green wire and P = panel light , in the case of a Morris Minor the flashing indicator bulb on the end of the arm...

Re: Difficult bolt removal.

Another thought . Do you have small nut splitter ? The wedge would sink into the bolt head and you would be able to lever the bolt out , with the splitter still attached .... assuming there is room horizontally to rotate.

Re: Brittle wire to Dynamo

I'd second the replacement of the wire immediately ( regardless of whether you go down the loom replacement route ).Before buying consider adding " new " stuff to the loom e.g rear fog light , hazard lights , etc. subject to your personal wish list. It will cost a little extra but the car ...

The complexity of trimming " just " the vertical edges of the doors ( ? ) is dependent on the amount you have to reduce each door by. Note , measure each side carefully , they may differ each side. Measure at numerous points / levels going down the doorframe. You're hoping it will be paral...

It should be Item No 38 Tear Drop Bracket ,for locating the main return spring......but if it was there and operating correctly ,why would you need black tape ? Maybe the rod is not "round ".

I'm struggling to relate what you have on your car , compared to the " normal " set up https://www.morrisminor.org.uk/parts/79-bonnet-fittings Your picture shows ( ? ) a rubber sleeve + cable tie, with a spring underneath it ? The 90 degree arm held by a Phillips screw , looks a bit like i...

Gerard The starter is definitely damaged. The shaft should rotate freely but NOT move move sideways as depicted in your photos. Unable to assess the full extent of the damage internally. Repair by replacement of parts , end plate , bearing ( if that was the only damage ! ) would not be a quick fix. ...

Gerard , You are correct. geoberni's useful diagram ..... base of the stack of bits is the insulating bush No 5 , then the metal points' spring and Condenser lead No 4 and Low Tension lead No 3 , topped off with the top insulating bush. Gerrard, My initial thoughts are the same as panky i.e if there is no " power" supply to the coil ( low tension side ). The electrical circuit is :- ignition to coil , then " earth lead " ( wire colour ... white with a thin white tracer ) to the side of the distributor. Attachmen...

Culp Whilst you're bracing yourself for the unsoldering and then re soldering ( you'll be fine ) do take care with the retaining clip. The wrap-over tab needs delicate handling. Lever with , increasing in size , flat screwdrivers. Work the tip of the blade underneath the tab ( avoiding damage to the...

Patrick Good advice from the guys. Sort the source of the leak out first and after rectification ... refill with antifreeze later. You can flush through the heater matrix separately if you wish , simply using the inlet and outlet pipes but flushing the whole cooling system would be my suggestion. Ch...

A few little hints on the greasing. Have either clean rags or paper towel handy and clean the outside of the grease nipple of all road muck. A drop of Meths or brake cleaner spray will help shift really dirty items. You don't won't to pump dirt into the unit you're trying to fill with clean grease. ...

Re: Crankshaft pulley bolt

If it hasn't moved for 50 years'ish then I would apply some heat treatment. If you have a heat gun you can get close enough with , then great. No heat gun , you could try boiling water out of the kettle. Preparation first , boiling water splashing around is asking for trouble if you're not careful. ...
