Re: Roadstar radio/cassette instructions?
Hi Richard
Yes, that's the idea, but I'm not sure which is the pre-select button!
I've tried the 'PS' button but it doesn't seem to lock the station, so I'm wondering if I need to hold down another button at the same time. Trouble is, there are 10 to choose from!
cheers

Re: SEAT BELT PUZZLE
Thanks for your comments, everyone; they seem to confirm that the belts I have are unsuitable. I've now spoken to the supplier who is happy for me to return the belts to them for a full refund. In the meantime, I'd be interested to hear the make/source of inertia reels that might be suitable for a t...

Roadstar radio/cassette instructions?
OK, this is a real shot in the dark, but would anyone happen to have the operating instructions for a Roadstar RC877 radio/cassette? (I guess it would date from the early 'nineties and has an orange backlight and display.) I'm trying to work out how to sort the radio station pre-sets but am stumped ...

Re: SEAT BELT PUZZLE
Hi guys Thanks for your comments. The manufacturer's fitting instructions say the reels must be mounted vertically. I did experiment by turning the reel in the direction of the top mount but the belt just locked. I found a post from the Mk1 forum (thanks Tim), which confirms this: "Yes, they ne...

SEAT BELT PUZZLE
Hi everyone I’m having huge problems fitting inertia reel seatbelts to a two-door Morris! I was assured by the supplier that the belts would fit a two-door with its top mounting points between the ‘B’ and ‘C’ pillars. However, I’ve found that with the reel fitted vertically (as is required with iner...

Wiring up a cigar lighter
Has anyone fitted a cigar lighter to their Morris? I'd like to fit one to power my sat nav, but I'm not sure how - and am rather afraid of causing a different sort of fire! Is this a job for an auto electrician? My car is negative earth and the cigar lighter I have was rescued from my old MkIII Astr...

Aftermarket seats
Has anyone fitted aftermarket seats to a two-door Minor? I was looking at Newton Commercial seats, which are nice but very expensive, and then came across these from Corbeau, which look quite similar yet cost much less. http://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/corbeau-sportsman-classic-retro-seat/prod_852.html...

Rotor arm position
Hi everyone I'm checking the static timing on my 1275 Morris after refitting the dizzy and noticed that when No.1 cylinder is at TDC (both valves on number one closed, number eight's rocking, piston at the top), the rotor arm is pointing to eight o'clock towards the starter motor) rather than two o'...

Re: One click and it’s dead! Help!
The timing is spot-on - it's been set up with a strobe, taking into account the advance curve advised by BBC, and tested throughout the rev range.

Re: One click and it’s dead! Help!
Thanks Simmitc I tested the solenoid by bridging contacts with a screwdriver when the last 'blackout' occurred - nothing happened because there was power so no sparks! As for the starter motor, does the amount of movement I described suggest the bearings have gone? (I wasn't looking to recondition i...

Re: One click and it’s dead! Help!
Thanks guys I’ve re-checked all the connections, including the earth strap from the gearbox to the crossmember, and all are sound. But I will try the suggestion of cleaning up the cable contacts with emery. Simmitc - Your point about the starter motor is interesting. Sometimes the starter winces and...

One click and it’s dead! Help!
Wonder if anyone can help me diagnose this puzzler? Sometimes when I try to start the engine there’s just a click (from the solenoid?), the ignition light goes out and everything is dead: no starter, no ignition, no lights, no nothing. I can ‘re-set’ things by disconnecting and reconnecting the batt...
