Forgot to ask about Declan's famous seals!
Might pop in a set over the winter - does anyone have a contact for him?
Thanks all

Re: Grease monkey - what's best for trunnions?
Thanks guys, that's great. Yes, I've just finished a tub of Duckam's Keenol, which is waterproof but sadly no longer available. However, I like the idea of the extra protection for the trunnion threads provided by the moly grease, although it will of course mean getting an additional grease gun 'cos...

Grease monkey - what's best for trunnions?
Could anyone advise on the best type of grease for trunnions? I've used Castrol LM for years but have heard some people recommend a moly grease, which seems to be a good idea. However, the Halfords website says it's for CV joints and 'multi-purpose greasing tasks', which sounds a bit vague. http://w...

Lidl compressors - any good?
Does anyone have experience of Lidl power tools - specifically compressors? I see they're selling a Parkside-branded one with a 1.8kw motor producing 7bar and with a 24-litre capacity for £80. It comes with a three-year warranty. However, I wonder if it's any good for that price, whether it would be...

Re: Stereo fuses blow – wrong rating or symptom of failing regulator?
Hi guys
Just checked the voltage output at the battery with the engine running - I'm getting 12 volts. Is this OK?
cheers

Stereo fuses blow – wrong rating or symptom of failing regulator?
My stereo has recently taken to blowing its one-amp fuses. I think it might be happening when I start the engine rather than when in use, but I've not yet established a pattern. Of course, it could be because the fuse is the wrong rating (although I'm pretty sure it's always had a one-amp fuse), but...

Two-door passenger lock removal puzzle
Could anyone share some tips on removing a passenger-side lock from a two-door? I've checked the manual, removed all the securing bolts and the little horseshoe spring clip, but the 'L' shaped internal locking lever/handle thingy doesn't seem to want to come out. I can see a tiny pin on the shaft of...

Re: Help! Tracking (toe-in) settings for the Moggy
Thanks guys
That's the figure (3/32" or 2.5mm) I've got in my manual, too.
But that was compiled in the days of crossply tyres, so I wondered if the setting should be different for radial tyres?

Help! Tracking (toe-in) settings for the Moggy
Could anyone advise the correct front wheel tracking (toe-in) for a Morris running radial tyres?
My local tyre centre doesn’t having listings for the venerable Moggy!
Thanks all

Checking trunnions and rod ends – singlehandedly!
Has anyone worked out a way to check wear in trunnions and track rod ends singlehandedly? Actually, given that pre-1960 cars are now MoT exempt, it would make a useful post to help owners to check their cars if anyone would like to spell out what’s involved! I know testing lower trunnions involves r...

What’s happening at the National Rally?
Thinking of going down to the rally at Crawley this weekend but can’t seem to find any detail of what’s on and when! What happens on Saturday? What happens on Sunday? Are all the traders there on both days? Is there a best day to go? Anything else I need to know? Any detail much appreciated - includ...

National Rally route - avoiding M25
I’m trying to work out a route to the National Rally that avoids the M25 car park, and would be interested to hear other members’ suggestions/experience. Based west of London, I’m looking at a route that takes me through Bracknell, Bagshot and Guildford, then following the A281 to Horsham and on to ...

Which hex sockets for Minoring?
Are there any professional/expert mechanics who could advise on the best choice of hex socket for Minoring? I want to get a set of hex/six-point sockets because they're less likely to round off worn or rusty bolt heads, especially when applying more force. They're not easy to come by these days but ...

Could any bodywork experts recommend the best method of jointing for a sheet metal repair: butt weld or joddled? Thanks guys, much appreciated - I'll buy myself a decent impact driver, and look to drill out and re-tap the holes if it doesn't work.

Re: Door hinge countersunk screw removal
Thanks guys.
However, my question was actually about the best way to remove the countersunk screws attaching the hinge to the door!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
