Re: Lowlight with demister vents?

My May 1950 has vents in the dash.

The car in the eaby advert belongs to Ewen Cameron and it was at the national Rally this year.

Re: MM brake convert

To convert to the later cylinders you need a 7inch brake backing plate to mount them onto, here is the later parts as used in series 11 and 948 cc cars. https://www.morrisminorspares.com/brakes-c42/front-brakes-c44/brake-back-plate-reconditioned-7-front-r-h-p829425 They also sell a complete kit of n...

Re: Problem panel

About the same time the body was altered for the new dash and grill the clutch pedal was moved to the outside of the chassis leg, rather than inside as on your older car. This isnt a structural panel so its fine to just cut out the necessary area to allow your clutch to work!

Re: Suddenly ....no clutch and no ability to get in any gear

This happened to me on the way to the Centenary Rally at Cornbury Park. We managed to get all the necessary bits at the autojumble and change it in the campsite, even bought axle stands and big hammer! The broken bit of half shaft need quite a lot of hammering to get it out of the diff as it had twi...

Re: Smiths Heater not wired in

The yellow and green wire is to the switch on the heater, it plugs into the fan motor, the round bit on the left you can just see the hole it plugs into on your picture. The heater takes its power from a spare terminal on the wiper switch.

Unfortunately the original Scottish Registration documents also no longer exsist. There is an educational charity called the Kithead Trust http://kitheadtrust.org.uk/ who deal with registrations and original sourcing of documents, they were able to advise straight away i hadnt much hope as none of t...

Re: New Purchase!!

Mike, way too untidy for the public to view!! Axle and gearbox out in last few days, axle was quite stiff to turn. Put a mix of thin engine oil and white spirit in and worked the pinion back and forward, then turned the diff around a few times and now running nice and free. The new oil was very dirt...

Re: Trafficator issue

Most minor companies probably sell them, here is whats on offer from ESM. https://www.morrisminorspares.com/search/trafficator There is a good chance you will only need the lens and arm if it was operating normally before it got broken. Club Spares also offer reconditioned trafficators. You can get ...

I havent had a huge amount of progress on the project over the last few months, but the engine has had new rings and shells fitted and is now painted up and ready to fit the cylinder head! Ive also checked over the starter, dynamo and carb this week so getting there, slowly.

I can tell you it was taken on MOT UK, possibly the trip to Ilfracombe in Devon in 2014, heres a differnt view of the same line up. Cant recall the name of the house, its a National Trust property. Might be worth contactin Bill Hewlett who organises the trip.

Re: Save a Moggy? Can a newcomer do it

Minors can rust almost anywhere, even the newest one is almost 50 years old now! So many panels are available for the minor that it makes them viable as restoration projects. As Myrtlesman says, a night school class is a good place to start. Also if you had had a go in the past try on some scrap bit...

Re: Series MM split screen installation

Ive carried out this job around 5 times or so. I use a cn old centre pillar with about 1' cut off each end. I fit the 2 pieces of glass together with the cut off pillar and then fit the rubber to the whole item. Strong cord is then put between the edge so the rubber can be pulled over the bodywork. ...

I think you would be surprised how well the cracks would cover in with some areldite, it may take several applications to fill them completely but would be worth the effort.

Re: New Restoration Projects Section

Welcome Splittyman! Have you any paperwork for the car? The number plate is Southern Irish so would not be a simple job to register it unless you have old documents. Id suggest you will probably end up with an age related number plate the Irish version of DVLA no longer let old Irish number be used....

I have used Plus Gas with good effect several times. Not easy to get these days, I found it on the Euro Carparts website.
