About the same time the body was altered for the new dash and grill the clutch pedal was moved to the outside of the chassis leg, rather than inside as on your older car. This isnt a structural panel so its fine to just cut out the necessary area to allow your clutch to work!

The yellow and green wire is to the switch on the heater, it plugs into the fan motor, the round bit on the left you can just see the hole it plugs into on your picture. The heater takes its power from a spare terminal on the wiper switch.

I havent had a huge amount of progress on the project over the last few months, but the engine has had new rings and shells fitted and is now painted up and ready to fit the cylinder head! Ive also checked over the starter, dynamo and carb this week so getting there, slowly.

Minors can rust almost anywhere, even the newest one is almost 50 years old now! So many panels are available for the minor that it makes them viable as restoration projects. Ive carried out this job around 5 times or so. I use a cn old centre pillar with about 1' cut off each end. I fit the 2 pieces of glass together with the cut off pillar and then fit the rubber to the whole item. Strong cord is then put between the edge so the rubber can be pulled over the bodywork. ...

I think you would be surprised how well the cracks would cover in with some areldite, it may take several applications to fill them completely but would be worth the effort.

Welcome Splittyman! Have you any paperwork for the car? The number plate is Southern Irish so would not be a simple job to register it unless you have old documents. Id suggest you will probably end up with an age related number plate the Irish version of DVLA no longer let old Irish number be used....
