Very nice. Unfortunately the salt over here has killed any chance of a "Rust Free" car.
It would be lovely to have that in my garage to tinker with.
Good luck with her.

Re: Cheap winter car
I may get hung out to dry on this one, but I see many cars on the roads travelling way in excess of the speed limit, sometimes almost motorway speeds in 30mph limits and the drivers are 25-35 females in big SUV's like Audi Q7, BMW X5 or the main culprit is usually a pimped up Range Rover sport tryin...

Re: Young enthusiast Bangers and Cash
I'm also a member of another car club which will remain anonymous for now, but a couple of let's say younger members have taken it upon themselves to investigate and "hack" the computers on their modern cars for the benefit of other members. They hope to be able to offer members a cost eff...

Re: Cheap winter car
Mike (jagnut) will, no doubt be delighted to know that I have sold the Tiguan and replaced it with a similar car, high seating position etc, that What Car rated as the most fuel efficient petrol car they have ever tested in a real world situation. Can you guess what it is Mike? :D Didn’t lose a penn...

Re: Young enthusiast Bangers and Cash
Whilst I'm not against local runs organised by regional area's I think a longer distance tour within the confines of this island would be great to see, maybe a Lands end to John O Groats or even a coast to coast.
Plus as mentioned it may improve the image of the Morris Minor.

Re: Young enthusiast Bangers and Cash
That's the issue, pre 1970 cars are either priced in such a way the young cannot muster enough cash to buy or project car are now approaching four figures. I have spoken to young lads in their 20's who are car fanatics, but they look upon Minor and the like as old hat and would rather work on and en...

Re: Young enthusiast Bangers and Cash
Having just typed that reply a thought entered my head, have the Morris Minor owners club ever organised such an event, for example a sporting event such as a long distance touring assembly or national driving event. I know the sporting triumph club have the regular round Britain tour it would be ni...

Re: Young enthusiast Bangers and Cash
It's quite sad that younger enthusiasts will struggle to be able to afford a "cheap" project car. As mentioned above the more affluent enthusiast will snap up that project just for a few parts and leave the rest rotting in the garden/barn etc. Static shows don't help the situation as the y...

Re: Young enthusiast Bangers and Cash
You're right but it does worry me if todays or even yesterdays children will have the interest in classic cars we have. :D I find young car enthusiasts are more drawn to new cars rather then old. When I was growing up car were old and I certainly couldn't afford a new car so made do with repairing ...

Young enthusiast Bangers and Cash
I have just watched the first episode of the new series of Bangers and Cash and a clip showed a young boy with a pile of book's on the Morris Minor. The young lad stated he owned the minor but only his dad was allowed to drive it but he himself liked to work on it. It's always nice to see youngsters...

I'm no expert but that grey could even be Dove grey.
But it looks to the original colour whichever hue it is.

Re: 1275 engine value
It all depends on condition. People usually want a running engine rather than a stripped one. As for prices well I paid £90 for a complete seized 1275 engine with a 12G940 cylinder head a few months ago. But I have seen stripped engines being advertised for around the £200 mark with complete running...

Depends on the year of your traveller.

Re: Where to start
Hi
Although I have a rollover jig I haven't used it as my car was too weak.
I'm taking it step by step cutting out the rust and replacing it as I go along.
I have some short video clips which may assist you.
Regards
Dermot.

Re: Brake queery
If you can feel the pulsing through the brake pedal something is amiss. Maybe one of the drums is out of round/worn/cracked. The drums can be machined but there is a limit as to how much you can take off. I would check the shoes are fitted correctly with plenty of material they do wear out eventuall...

Re: How to identify manifold/carb?
It looks like a modified manifold, maybe the inventor wanted to take the carb away from the heat of the exhaust manifold.

Re: What would you get?
My elderly neighbour gave me a two old bottle Jacks many years ago, I still have them under my bench and occasionally use one when working on my minor. I intend to restore them at some point and keep them as ornaments, but sadly in the garage as my wife wouldn't be too please seeing them on show in ...

It does seem to be a reoccurring problem, one which I wouldn't even know where to start attempting to rectify.

Re: Engine restorer
Hi, have just done oil change on my traveller and was wondering if the Ametech engine restorer additive would help in anyway. It says it increases compression etc. Just thought it might help or offer more protection for the engine. Thanks everyone. I don't agree with engine saving additives, if you...
