Re: Window regulator

The wheel fits in the channel of the painted section. I believe originally the glass was pressed in with a rubber section between it and the channel. Mine was rotten so I used a silicone sealant/adhesive (neutral cure) to bond the glass into the channel in the hope that my new assembly didn't trap w...

Re: Dual Carb questions RE: Choke and Float chamber

If you search back through my posts I fitted a pair to my sidevalve. Constructed inlet manifolds etc and those overflow pipes were long enough to get to top of sump level. All together it was a lot of work and as Phil says, improvement was minimal. I did measure (it was measureable!) the times taken...

Re: MOT from 1st April 2021

With regard to changing a complete brake pipe I believe there are many 'modern' vehicles where changing a complete pipe would be very labour intensive considering the route it could take.

Re: Blooming rubber!

I questioned my cracking tyres (not Morris) at our local very good tyre fitters, he advised that the cracks I showed him were ok but the use of tyre treatments is generally bad news for tyres!

Re: Period Fire extinguisher

I still have a Halon extinguisher, super effective and leaves no mess but unfortunately not very environmentally friendly and were banned.
They work by swamping the area in the gas and eliminating the oxygen/air.

Looks great! Can't say I've seen that model before?
I have a brass bodied Pyrene one I carry in the Morris but don't suppose it would work if needed!
(It's not the only one I carry)

Doesn't look right, the scroll should not be visible. Just measured my spare box flange to casting end at 57mm (yours looks like 65?)
I would investigate as you can guarantee it will leak.
As for the hole, don't know what it's for but they all have them!

Re: Rattle in silence box

I seem to remember the official workshop manual describes where to insert screws into the silencer case to secure the baffles. This I suppose could work with a 'factory' system but are after market systems made in the same way though? When I had a rattling box years ago I must admit to deforming it ...

I would personally only raise a car off the ground to preserve the tyres, but if they are shot already?

Re: Spare tyre/wheel-does anyone not carry one?

I have bigger wheels/tyres on my minor and have also got the same size as a spare. I accommodated it in the usual place but raised the shelf as required.
Works well but obviously lose a bit of boot space although it's never been a major problem.

Re: Identify clock

My dash clock didn't come from an MM but you would have to look hard to notice it wasn't genuine!
I think similar clocks were fitted to some BMC vehicles of similar vintage and believe that's where mine came from. I did some post's on it when it was installed.

Re: Morris minor half shafts

I put an additional screw fixing in the half shafts!
I did it because I didn't like the idea of the O ring opening up the joint to the hub, seemed to tip it out of square which would the reveal an oily joint.
I realise it's all held together once the wheel nuts are tightened up.

Bondaprimer - good stuff, I used it, it has a good amount of solids in it which flatter well.
Don't see it so much as you used to though?
