Re: Hardened valves
Hi Stephen. Assuming you mean hardened valve seats. Once the head is returned to you It would be best to fit new valves. When fitting the Valves they have to be lapped in to produce an air tight seal. It is not difficult to do.

Re: Black sludge in rocker cover etc… Cause?
"I’d suggest ensuring that the engine breathing system is not also blocked with muck."
Good idea. my breathe had become blocked and engine pressure pushed oil out of the rear crank seal.

Re: Pink antifreeze
I use blue in my Minor. However my old VW camper had to have pink. I think it was because there are aluminium parts in the VW cooling system and blue would react with it. I do not know if there would be a problem with the pink in a Minor, but it would not be a bad idea to flush the system anyway and...

Re: Black sludge in rocker cover etc… Cause?
Do you do a lot of short runs? It looks like the condensation that forms when a hot engine cools is not being boiled off. Give the rocker box a good clean and change the oil. A few long runs should help remove moisture in the oil.

With a corrugated hose it can be done but it is a bit fiddly and you need a lot of patience.

Good find. It looks like a restful restoration project. I like the cement in the back. I have moved 70 bricks in the back of mine. The steering was a bit light.

Re: Fuel pump woes
It is just a thought... The only time I have had problems with point (distributor in this case) is the day after fitting new ones. They worked fine on the day I fitted them but failed the following day. I concluded that perhaps they were coated in a wax or oil to stop the metal parts rusting in stor...
Re: Glove box
I have a NOS right hand box that may be suitable. It is labeled BMC - ADA 4063. Unfortunately the rivets have left rust marks on the flocking. If you are interested send me a PM. As a side, I painted my 1069 Traveller's glove boxes with cream spray paint. The finnish was hard but it looked OK. IMG_0...

Re: Upgrading - can it be this easy?
I can only agree with the comments regarding the 948cc. When we bought my partners 948 2 door saloon she followed me home in my 1098 Traveller. The 948 steamed up Bath hill without topping out and it was not sluggish along the road home. Try it for a while before jumping into upgrading the new car.

Re: Fog light
Regarding the fog light, I wired mine from the main lighting switch feed to the side lights via a switch with warning light under the dash. This gave me a visible warning when the fog light was on only when the side and main lights are on too.

If you mean the oil filler cap then I do not think it will have any effect on the running of your car. Possibly the previous owner had fitted some sort of breather tube to it.

My Traveller was the same until I unblocked the rubber breather tube. I could not believe the amount of gunk that a small tube could hold. I swear the car ran sweeter afterword too. Beautiful engine by the way.

Re: SU Fuel Pump or Hardi replacement?
A lot of questions, I can only help by telling you about my situation. The Original fuel pump on my 53 year old Traveller is still giving me good service. I did replace the points and diaphragm somewhen in the late 1980's.You have to be careful when replacing the whole pump as I believe there are tw...
