Mine FBT 4 / 584941. =2door green ,export to N America. It says thease were built up until 1954. Its a 1000. 948.It was reg here in 1958. It took 4 yrs to sell ? IT was sold by Holywood sports cars in 1958. I have the orig, plates,etc.It is very rust free,now I have to restore it. soon to be moggy d...

P S. you still have to hit it with a chisel,between the teeth.
but it does make it easier.

I have allways drilled a small hole between the teeth,then it will split and come off a easily.

Sounds like avaccum leak .What year is it ?
Does it have a pcv thats bad?

B m c is right,In 50 years of twisting wrenches ,found with cork or rubber gaskets,glue or gasket seal on one side
nothing on t'other.A lot of times if you do both sides the gasket will squease out.

You might try .www.por15.com.They have some very goodrust
preventatives,sealers etc.They are in new jersey.

I check for leaks with a spray can of W D 40.With engine running,
spray lightly at manifold gaskets ,carb gaskets,throttle shafts etc.
if engine speeds up you have an air leak.Just make sure not to
spray into carb',

Does the adjuster need to be turned again ,after you push brake pedal?
If it stays adjusted up.How about the line valve in the master cylinder?

B M C is correct ,if one has broken the rest are likely to be over stressed as well.Each time the bolts are tightened they stretch a little.Do you know how many times the head has been tightened ?and was it torqued correctly? Anyway best of british luck . Kenny in the colonies. :wink:

I dont know if any one has had this problem ,with 1275 m g engines.
they had brass plugs in the cyl heads because the cylinder bores came out to
close to water holes in the head.The plugs would get pushed up in the head by
the gasket.Then would leak into cyl'.

The exploded view of diff I have looks like there is a shim betweencrush sleeve and bearing
maybee?but it would be alot of work to set up.
