Re: Are vans worth saving

Imo these vans would cost plenty to restore nicely, and if done by a company a few thousand. Unless someone did the job themselves and wanted to know exactly what/how its been done, its probably easier to buy one already up and running.

Re: engine decision

This happened to me, engine just wouldn't start I stripped it down and renewed many bits including all the electrics, the recently painted engine looked a bit messy after this work so I repainted it again, this time with the correct shade of green. Lo and behold after putting it back it started firs...

Check the brass washer is sound, inbetween 2nd and 3rd gear (as shown in Roy's photo) and why is there a load of italics at the bottom of my posts instead of a picture?

Re: pickup restoration project

Jonathon, I notice in the picture that the new piece fitted to the bottom of the B post actually appears to fit! Did you 1--(like me) use the bottom of another B post to achieve this or 2-- are the replacement sections getting better and used them or 3-- spent a week modifying said replacement panel...

Ahh - no - you asked about the 'rebore'! Oh ok, but the implication was there! Thanks for the link, but it's for a 1275 and I suspect they start at 20thou o/s. It's standard at the moment and have thought of removing the (slight) bore ridge, honing and fitting new rings, 3 rings plus a scraper---wo...
