Re: Please read this it's very important !!!

OK lets put this into context. They are saying that cars must basically adhere to 'Type Approval' so lets quote from the DFT: Within Europe, two systems of type approval have been in existence for over 20 years. One is based around EC Directives and provides for the approval of whole vehicles, vehic...

Re: convertibles,original and non original

With the new EU regs planned it will probably be unuseable due to being modified from standard. Pete That has yet to be confirmed and my V5 clearly states 'convertible' though it is a post production conversion. So are you saying that the DVLA will go back and check every record, for every converti...

Re: Please read this it's very important !!!

So I guess this topic has been fully covered, but only privy to members of the club, and no whisper of it has leaked to the outside world. It's been done to death all over the web and some have been following this for weeks, if not months now. This particular sites forums are open to anyone, not ju...

Re: Car Covers

The wrong type of cover can cause more harm than not using one in the 1st place and it's very important to get one that 'breathes' allowing moisture out. However even those should be removed on a regular basis when it's dry to allow air to circulate. Something like this: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/The...

Re: Dashboard Clock

Just a heads up for you guys on the Smiths Glovebox lid electric clock fitted to early Minors which seem to sell for silly money. I have been reliably informed that all the Smiths clocks made from 1930 - 1967 use the same movement, be it from a Minor, Jaguar even a Rolls Royce so.... Find an old clo...

Re: chain link dropped into tank

As the fuel pump is up in the engine bay it shouldn't really pull any bits of chain through and the links may well be to big to transit the fuel line anyway so all should be OK Only real issue that I can see would be if a link did get lodged in the fuel line, then any crud from the tank got stuck be...

They will be leather faced with vinyl sides and backs. Furniture clinic http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/ could fix any splits to the leather, fill and recolour or has already been said, you can buy a re colour kit from Woolies Trim : http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-117-leather-renovation.aspx Cover...

Re: Wheel Re Enameling Provider Needed

Aerocoat are good and you could courier the wheels up. Without the tyres the rims aren't that heavy.

Aerocoat can even powder coat in a chrome finish http://www.aerocoat.net/index.htm

Re: Whick brake upgrade?

I don't think its brakes that make cars safer, it's the person behind the wheel. If I drive safely, and plan well ahead so that I can stop in the distance that I can see to be clear, the chances of being involved in an accident solely as a result of not being able to stop in time would remain the s...

Re: Whick brake upgrade?

The Minors brakes were designed for the car and if maintained in good condition are very effective. When people complain about Classic Car brakes, it's a lot to do with driving style and the way people are taught these days. When the Minor was originally made, most cars had similar systems and you w...

I hope you'll give us he opportunity to quote you again next year when your renewal from PJ comes through :) Problems are deeper than that. Re: Split Screen Convertible Hood Frame replacement

Sorry to repeat myself but are you sure that the butterfly bolt is hitting the chamfer on the locating pin as if it does, then screwing it in will pull the frame down.

You should be able to pull the frame down by hand as well if pulling at the right hand corner

So in the picture above that you posted why is the wooden header not being pulled all the way down by the butterfly bolt?

If the bolt is hitting the chamfer on the pin, as you wind it in, it should pull the frame down.

Re: Split Screen Convertible Hood Frame replacement

Are you sure that the right side pin is going all the way into the locating hole?

From the picture it doesn't seem to be or the wood would be down on the frame at that point
