Re: Indicators

It's time to break out the Multimeter as Simmitc has suggested. Having confirmed continuity on the bulbs ,work back from the nearest connector ( with the side lights switched on) that you have full battery volts , cica 12. ? volts. With an assistant switch off side lights and ignition on ( not for t...

Perhaps , if the reply is along the lines of " nothing to do with us , Sir " Trading Standards would give you and unbias opinion.
Frustrating I know but I hope there is a satisfactory conclusion to this for you.

Re: Dismantling the swivel ashtray?

You could try some gentle tapping with a pin hammer on the central pivot. Open up the vice jaws a little , just enough to straddle either side of the pivot head. Place ashtray at 90 degrees to the jaws and at one end.i.e so that the rear side of the ashtray , overhangs the jaws. Protect the chrome w...

Mike This link , with pictures , might give you a heads up on where to start looking. A number of possibilities , general dirt lack of electrical contact , broken or mis aligned parts / small springs. Fingers crossed your indicator is fixable. It's always worth a go before you have to grab the plast...

Re: Remote servo

Paul ( ? ) could you tell us what is on the small plate screwed / pop rivetted to the casting and also the the letters and numbers moulded into the casting itself ? It would speed up the Internet searching to establish the manufacturer. From that , it might be possible to find a set of installation ...

Re: Completely Dead

Some of the isolator / battery dis-connect clamps have a fused connector , by passing the clamp. With the knob on the clamp removed , the fuse allows a small load ( e.g.radio ) to be delivered. Whilst any attempt at starting the car ( the heaviest load on a battery ) would blow the fuse. If your set ...

Hi ?? , Welcome to the Forum. Looks like you have the odd hour or two of welding to do. At least the weather should be warming up for you soon. Usual advice , one side at a time so you have the other side to reference. Brace everything before cutting out , so the door aperture remains unaltered duri...

Re: Swapping SU Carb parts

Hmmm ! That piston has been sitting around for some time. The operation of the SU piston is to slide up and down the chamber. With the cleaned / new piston in the chamber with spring , invert it , so that the piston falls to the top. Placing a finger over the hole ( where the damper is screwed in ) ...

Stanmo "Removal " of the nut needs great care. Odds are stacked against you if it hasn't come off before. A good long soak in Plus gas / WD 40 and work the nut back and forth with tiny motions , using a well fitting spanner. If you're tempted to try the heat treatment , with very hot water...

I agree with geoberni and Phil , thermostatic sensor held against the radiator vanes by a plastic cable fixing through the radiator itself. In your photo the two wires ,leaving said switch , appear to have a kink in them. Are the wires still "unharmed " at this point or have they been &quo...

If your garage is " quite tight " , like mine , I suggest you do the extraction with the car outside. I know the weather is less than predicable but you don't want to get 95% the way through , only to find that It would been easy " with just another 12" / 30 cm of wriggle room &q...
