Re: Switching on earth

I've always assumed that the horn was wired like that because it's easier to make the switch in the steering wheel boss, if it was wired conventionally it'd require two wires fed through the steering wheel splines/nut. As for the wiper motor, I just though it was to do with the self parking, how wer...

They’re catering for the majority of current motorway users. That means, in general, more reliable cars. I choose not to use motorways in my van as I don’t feel that it was designed for the type of traffic that use them these days.

Surely ‘smart motorway’ is an oxymoron rather than a euphemism? Like ‘army intelligence’ ?

Re: Block cleaning.

Blast it and wash it, it’s what I’ve always done. As long as all the core plugs and oil gallery plugs etc are out it’s not a difficult job to make sure it’s spotless.

Eta: The oil pump priming plug had been removed and was put back so it didn’t get lost.

There's a lot of contaminants in rainwater, I wouldn't use it. How much is 5 litres of distilled at Halford, £4?

I don’t think food is ‘needless’ but I don’t have an issue with nature getting the better of man when it comes to keeping chickens.

Re: Crystals in waterways

It’s connected to the problem that we have with swimming pool water in this country. The various water companies add and remove various minerals etc from our tap water. Then water will try to ‘balance’ itself by pulling minerals from what’s left. It can manifest itself as deposits on pools walls or ...

Did the original (genuine) part have captive threads fitted to fix the headlight bowl?

Calm down Phil, it’s ok to be mistaken. Hopefully the op will come back to clear things up. Until then we’re all guessing.

Re: Front wing/light thread type

Surely it has to be the headlight mounting as the OP mentions the screw thread in a captive nut. It is only the headlights that have a captive nut isn't it. That was my thought, I think Phil is getting confused by mentioning the wing fixing which the op doesn’t mention. Only lights to wing fixings ...

I know, I just assumed that he meant headlights as he said front lights.

We all seem to think that he's asking a different question. I thought he wanted the thread for the bolts that hold the headlight bowls? He didn't mention the wing fixings?

I’ve got that drawing Phil, my machining chap has recommended not taking off as much as he would for a saloon, as it could have an adverse affect pulling away fully laden.
