Re: Farewell.....

I have been in the same position. I had a 1929 Austin seven chummy for 33 years which I had restored down to the last nut and bolt. I was not using her because of advancing years and being 6ft 3inches tall. It was very emotional when she went albeit to a good home but she needed to go to someone who...

Re: Least favourite car

The worst car that I drove was a Lambougini Murcielago whilst working for a super car club. After driving it from Manchester to Surrey it took me 5 minutes to extract myself from it. The most uncomfortable car I have ever driven I don't think my back has been the same since. I asked not to drive it ...

Re: ex met panda on ebay ???

I went to see this one over a year ago. It is a genuine ex met panda but its very rough having been poorly resprayed white. I declined to buy it and luckily found the actual car that I drove in 1968.

Re: Seat backs.

You will need the strength of Tarzan to stretch the straps across the back. There is some horsehair backing to go on the back of the seats and the cover is then slipped over them. Good luck !!

Re: Ginger bush

I'm told that Mother in laws tongue can be very acidic and if placed between a ginger bush and a purple morning glory will almost certainly prevent cross pollination.

Re: Ginger bush

Yes chaps back on the sofa. My remark that I fancied a fresh Flange didn't go down very well at all. I had the same trouble a few weeks ago when I said I was going to Screwfix. It took a long time to convince the present Mrs B that it was not a dating agency.

Re: What was your first car?

When they were building the Toby Jug flyover on the Kingston by Pass a tunnel was built for the workmen to walk through. I managed one night to drive my Morris minor panda through this tunnel with about an inch to spare each side. Luckily it was tall enough to accommodate the roof box. The Panda was...

Re: What was your first car?

Mine was a 1950 Vauxhall Wyvern. I can remember doing 60 MPH flat out on the Kingston by pass with the valve Motorola radio turned up full volume listening to Telstar by the Tornadoes. After that came a 1950 Morris minor convertible I think the registration number was RFC 3- can't remember the numbe...

Re: Ginger bush

I must admit that I like the sound of the fresh flange but I think the White bush would be more suitable for me.

Re: Ginger bush

I think the Ginger bush thread has finally come to and end. I looked in the bed this morning and the bush has given up the ghost. Its probably the cold weather as my purple morning glory has shrunk to half its size. I told my wife that I would look out for a new Ginger bush but that didn't seem to g...

Re: Ginger bush

More trouble in the bed. It appears that my wifes cat has been in the bed and has done something to my purple morning glory. I said to her look what your pussy has done, my purple morning glory is now bent in the middle. Pussy is now hiding behind the Ginger bush.

Re: Ginger bush

Have just found our young gardener with his nose in the ginger bush. He said he was smelling the strange odour coming from the bush I left him to it. I returned some time later to find he had been over zealous with the trimming and it now looked like a shaven haven.

Re: Ginger bush

Oh dear more trouble. Having examined the ginger bush closely I have found a large sticky willy (Galium Aparine) I think the latin name is Adhesii Penisii. It appears to have fastened itself to the Ginger bush and looks very rampant. I shall have to do something about it before it overwhelms my Purp...

Re: Ginger bush

Following Firedrakes advice I've made sure the matted root ball is in good order and given the Purple morning glory a few yanks. This seems to have done the trick and it is now standing upright with no discernible droop or limp. I've also taken Amgraves advice and have been to our local garden centr...
