Re: Drive-it-Day
I've got to get my head around this show/ drive it thing. I just drive mine all the time... Can take a long time to do the supermarket run though, 20 minutes in Morrisons car park today talking to an 85 yr old deaf chap who swore by riveting Morris panels together. Always worked for him apparently.

Yes indeed, good luck whichever way you decide to turn. As some wise man once said, the man who never made a mistake never made anything at all. We all know where not to go for a car and the word will pass around quickly. Hope you can stay in love with the car...

Have you opened the 'tap' in the engine bay? Mine is noisy too but it gets swamped by louder noises above 30mph!

Well, you are where you are and its a lovely looking moggy with some issues. Bite the bullet, get it sorted asap and you'll love it. You'll just beat yourself up fighting with the dealer and finish up hating the car...it's not her fault!

Re: Seat Belt Mountings
I really enjoy not having seatbelts in my '61 saloon.I know it's ridiculous but so liberating and reminds me of a so much happier and 'hippier' age. I'm quite happy to gamble on the off chance of a big shunt for the sheer joy of '60's'driving. Our kids think I'm crazy but it wouldn't really bother m...

Re: New to Morris Minor Ownership and the MMOC
Hope you have deep pockets.......have you read the various reports from the past ? Well,of course they're not cheap...it's a business after all,but one that understands the value of reputation and the importance of doing a proper job. The way I look at it is that I paid the price of a cheap new car...

Difficult for the garage... They don't have a crystal ball and can't know exactly what will crop up. They should be able to give a provisional quotation for work and refer back to you if complications occur.

Re: New to Morris Minor Ownership and the MMOC
My traveller was restored by Wares several years ago and they did a great job. It's never been a spot of bother and I always felt sure that if there had been any issues Andy and Tim would have sorted them without any drama.I've had them restore 2 other cars since then and have been equally pleased w...

The latter I'm afraid Mick. Didn't even register that it was considered rude. Count the times that words considered 'swearing' are used on the BBC every night! Who sets the rules on this and are they living in the 19 th century? There's a street in Newcastle called 'c.ntgrope lane',and has been for ...

Guess they all find us old car enthusiasts a pain in the DONT SWEAR OR YOU WILL BE BANNED. We're not on their radar at all. Girl at my dentist today thought I was really poor because she saw me arrive in the Morris. Mind you she was a dental nurse and looked about 15...

There are some who would consider you a whimp for using a specialist garage but I agree completely with your reasoning. Some folk prefer spending more time driving their cars than working on them. Each to their own. By the way,the maroon trav in your photo is the spitting image of mine...couldn't ma...

Looks like a fabulous car.I agree with almost everything BMC says but would caution that there are times when a trusted local garage may be a good option.

Re: Trafficator fixing
Can't remember offhand, but when I refurbished mine some years ago I rang up a few suppliers and they knew. One suggested using stainless screws, which I did and there's been no rust staining on the paint. Can't remember if they were from BM or Wares but very cheap.

In my book anyone saving an A30/35 or a Morris should be given a medal as big as a dustbin lid.
