Re: Parts suppliers
Posting the parts back from France is an option but the postage would cost more than the value of the missing bits.

Re: Parts suppliers
If you knew one kit included the studs/nuts - why on earth did you not order that part??? Seems very unfair to criticise this supplier - he sent you exactly what you ordered! I didn't realise this at the time, it was ordered with quite a few other parts. There is no rhyme nor reason in offer...

Re: Parts suppliers
Well Boomlander, I made a mistake, easy enough, could happen to anyone (apart from you maybe). This was explained to the suppliers but there was no leaway from them so they lost a customer. They can probably live with that, I know I can.

Re: Parts suppliers
That is not in dispute, what is incomprehensible is why were they the same price?Boomlander wrote:The two different part Nos clearly state that one kit includes studs, nuts and washers, the other doesn't.

Parts suppliers
I was just wondering about the attitude of Morris Minor parts suppliers these days. I have just had an altercation with one of the above and it concerns a thermostat housing kit. They have this kit listed twice but under different part numbers. They are identical in price but the so called Web offer...

Re: Recommissioning after long lay-up.
When I said spring in my previous posting I didn't mention which one because only now, after more than a year, work has been resumed on the car. Work has started on the brakes and leaky cooling system. The front suspension and steering rack will need attention. The bushes on the tie bars look very t...
Re: Mirrors
Make sure they are the convex ones flat ones are useless. Mirrors help but looking over your shoulder is important.

Removing back brake cylinders.
Do you have to remove the hub assembly in order to take off the rear wheel cylinder? Handbrake clevis pin, metal feed pipe, banjo union and rubber boot were removed with relative ease but no amount of fiddling will get the cylinder out. The "bible" says remove hub assembly but I've read el...

Re: Window keeps coming down
Years ago the same thing used to happen with my old Ford Pop but I was too lazy to fix it so I used to block the winder handle with a wedge shaped rubber door stop. It didn't work very well, the car was cold and draughty, what with the self opening window and no heater! Zodiac drivers used to stick ...

Re: Any thoughts on the brake cylinder seal kits of today.
That's good advice about greasing brake pipes, especialy "Bundy" steel ones and is something which was done a lot in the old days. Cupro Nickel (Kunifer) is the best way to go for car renovation in my opinion. I can't think why parts specialists supply copper brake pipes. Making your own b...

Re: Idiots behind you!
Cars getting too close up behind happens a lot here whatever you're driving and at whatever speed. I tend to lift the foot off the throttle slightly in the hopes they will pass. The thing is not to let it get you down.

I agree with the above but one has to admit that there are problems with repro parts and when it comes to brakes, I for one would prefer that they were perfect.
