Re: Morris Mini Minor Turbo on Ebay?!

I'm probably going to regret giving yet another display of my monumental ignorance... but what is a supercharger, where does it fit, what does it do to a 1098 engine, and could it do the same or better on the 1275 Marina engine I'm soon to be putting into Betsy Blue? an anything-charger (short of a...

Sorry, I missed the Trav by half an hour this afternoon - by the time I arrived at the garage, it was on its way to its new owner!

Two things...

First, there's a Minor saloon for sale at a small garage near me in Pembrokeshire, and it's been on sale for a while - is anyone in or near West Wales looking for a decent car, and would like contact details? It looks very good to me - if I didn't have Betsy Blue to consider...! Second - the (new) m...

Re: Morris Mini Minor Turbo on Ebay?!

485 BHP in a Mini - aye right..... and no manifold etc. Turbo is old hat these days (except for diesels of course!) - a supercharger works well on an A series. Or of course the Turbo kit from a Turbo Mini, but it's pretty basic. I'm probably going to regret giving yet another display of my monument...

Re: Not sure where to post (Morris Oxford help)

There' a guy in our village with two of the Oxford MO's. I won brownie points with him when I moved into the village for correctly identifying them first time, never having seen one in the flesh before, from a side-on view - front on, and the heavy old grille means you could never mistake it for a M...

If that was bought local to where it is now, then it's in Pembrokeshire somewhere, near me... that's a Pembrokeshire plate, isn't it?

Re: Spotted today.

Haven't had time to post before, but I spotted a Rose Taupe saloon heading towards Chester on the road past Wrexham at about 2.10 on Saturday (I was going to the Racecourse Ground to watch Wrexham v Rushden & Diamonds with my son); then on Sunday I spotted a green Traveller which had just gone o...

Craftsmen like that fill me with awe and wonder at how amazingly gifted so-called "ordinary" people are... and a little bit envious, to be honest! Peter Simon's work is worth ten of the crappy bankers who screwed up the world's economy, and yet you can bet he won't get a 0.0001% of one of ...

Blimey! How could you stand there coolly and take a picture of that thing? I'd have been off out of the garage like a scalded cat!

Re: Buying a convertible

would I be able to get something fairly sorted for around 5K or is just asking for trouble. Canterbury Convertibles seem to have a good rep, and sell what look like good, well-restored convertibles for that sort of money. Otherwise, ask Jonathan Heap at JLH Restorations. He's not a million miles aw...

Re: Backplates

Hi, I think the Morris Minor Centre in Bath can supply ready made backplates.I don't know how much they cost. I have just bought a Morris Ital 1275 + engine/clutch/gearbox on e-bay, and intend to do the same conversion later this year, so I would be interested to know how you progress. That wasn't ...

Backplates

I think I'm right in saying that a modified backplate has to be made if you want to install an Ital or Marina 1275+ engine in a Minor. Can anyone tell me 1) how you go about getting one made, 2) what is it likely to cost, 3) does each backplate have to be custom made for each engine, or is there a s...

Re: How to remove the front grill?

Hi all What’s the easiest way to remove the front grill on a 1966 Morris Minor? Thanks, Paul If you are doing this to paint the grill, you don't have to remove it. If you look at my tag, you'll see Betsy with a gleaming white grill... when I bought her, it was trafalgar blue, like the car. I painte...

We still use tins and lengths of string
Only in Caerdydd, boy bach. Out yere in the far west, string is a luxury, isn't it? We use wool spun from the abandoned hanks found clinging to the rusty barbed wire of pasture fences.
