Make a note of the part numbers as a supplement in your Army Minor parts list then you will have a record of the alternative bushes available.

Re: Steering column pinch bolt problem

Well done. :tu1:
The correct bolt for this application is 1/4" BSF bolt but a 1/4" UNF bolt or in my case I have fitted a 12.9 high tensile UNF cap headed bolt.

Photo of rear damper link bushes below. 1. ESM damper link Pt No: SUS702 with fitted one piece rubber bush. Note: The rubber bush has been removed from the top eye. The ESM bush was removed for use in the top eye of a gas tele damper conversion kit so as to be able to utilise the damper chassis moun...

Re: Steering column pinch bolt problem

Have you lined up the hole in the column with the waisted section of the rack pinion? With all lined up the bolt will pass easily though the column and past the waisted section of the pinion. If you have a shallow taper punch put it into the hole and wiggle it about and that should line everything u...

Rear damper link rubber top bush

If you are having to replace the rear suspension damper top link bush (the one that fits onto the chassis pin) forget the two piece rubber bushes or a poly bush and fit a classic Mini suspension damper bush Pt No: 21A1230. If you can find them bush 21A503 is even better. 21A503 is also a one piece b...

Re: Rocker arm identification.

As regards the non draining oil filter for the Marina engine the Unipart GFE 150 appears to have a one way non draining rubber flap on its outer ring of holes which is the oil entry side for the oil to flow into and through the oil filter element. The rubber flap helps to keep oil in the oil filter ...

Alternatively you can get a oil filter wrap around magnet For example:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112578146589?itmmeta=01HS8PE7FFBNHX4RKY22PVC288&hash=item1a362e311d:g:~gMAAOSwYkBZyhse&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8NiooYBWrItjeuHXMxPLAr3LZK9iaPZ5asDS1l6vpakBLd0B187C42QbA56vL1wi5p3ElFvbQ%2Bp%2Fs0Ehb...

Re: Half shaft refit - handedness?

If you had the half-shafts heat treated the process would have 'normalised' the molecular make up of the metal and helped removed any rotational stresses that had built up over the years. So it would not be a problem for the hardened half-shaft which ever side it was fitted to.

Re: 1098 Thermostat Housing??

The thermostat housing with temp take off was not a standard item on a 1098cc as all the 1098cc heads had a temp take off facility as standard. The 12A408 thermostat housing is quite rare though they are available new at a price from Australia. There is currently a 12A408 thermostat housing for sale...

Re: Car transporter size?

I have used a Brian James clubman single axle trailer to move my Morris about for several years and is a good trailer after having put up with home built trailers for many years.
The Brian James clubman trailer has been superseded by a revised model and unfortunately now costs a lot more than I paid.

Re: Rocker arm identification.

The oil goes everywhere because the oil filter is mounted upside down. That is the downside of having a Marina/Ital engine. There are oil filters that do not drain when removed - if I can find a part number I will post on here. The Marina/Ital oil filter can be mounted remotely so as to get over the...

Re: Camshaft-oil pump problem

There are ways of overcoming the difference in oil pump drive. You do not have to machine the block. Most if not all camshaft now sold have the slot drive. You do not have to buy a pin drive camshaft. You can with most oil pumps change the drive shaft to suit the cam drive. Use a shaft with a Woodru...

Re: Beehive Springs -again!

I do not remember having come across the beehive springs on other cars but that does not mean that they were not fitted to other cars. The most common shoe to backplate retaining clip is the pin through the backplate with a parallel coil spring and slotted spring cap retained by two bulbous projecti...

Re: Ominous Engine Signs? (magnetic sump plug)

Better to have the sludge in the oil filter rather than in the rest of the engine. When I worked in the garage trade we looked after a high annual mileage petrol Hillman Hunter. The engine was filled with diesel engine oil and it was surprising how clean the engine internals were when it was strippe...

Get the timing marks lined up and then paint new marks on the timing chain cover and crankshaft pulley rim. There is no need to go overboard on the timing marks.
