I must admit at my age, 80 , I find it easier to take the engine out with my stacker truck and work on it on the bench. Set tappets, remove sump and clean, check bearings and back in again same day. Good for a couple of years then.!!

I think mine looks just as good and is very useful. It has a similar engine, cruises at the legal limit with a bit to spare and does 40 mpg. maybe the engine room is not as polished but I have owned it since 1996 and it is always admired at shows. Usual fix is fit soft iron washers until you can get some good 2nd hand wheels. 45lbs/ft is enough. Depends whether the bolts are unf or bsf.

We are talking side valve engine I presume? Mine same as Robs with 1 blade, never over heats even on a hot day doing 55mph or idling on slip road., Have you got a heater and is the heater valve open, even if you dont use the heater it helps the circulation at the back of the head.

I modified my early '51 MM in the nineties and put complete Minor 1000 uprights on and everything fitted. I had to machine the stub axles to take the MM bearings and drums,that's all. I changed everything back to original ( engine, gearbox and rear axle in about 2003 and all is well.

Yes Plus Gas or diesel down the studs and patience could be a couple of weeks and keep the studs wet, top up every day. Steel fox wedges help. Hanging up is good as well.

If you are wanting the water pump to use a heater just mount a Smith's heater motor with a washing machine water pump attached. Mount it on a board on the inner wing and pipe it up to the engine. We ran out MM for 20 years before we got a pump
