Had a quick look and the front face of No 4 is the same. Not sure but this is the point where the cylinder head gasket gave out and I wonder if water has stripped the glaze off the cylinder. It feels slightly rough on the surface but not scored. 1 and 2 are fine and the other areas of 3 and 4 are fi...

Goopy engine

Had the cylinder head off today as she blew a core plug on the way to the sadmog christmas bash. As she had conked out within a mile of teh core plug flying out (going down the M3 at 65mph :( ) I guessed at least a head gasket was required along with all the new core plugs. Anyhoo after popping the ...

Hi Mike, Nice looking seats you've got there.

If you need any little bits of metal angle to make up brackets just shout.

Seem to have loads of offcuts at the mo.

I don't mind welding a couple together if you can come up with a sketch of what you want.

?? I'm intriged

Oh and Milly's odd engine noises for the last 2 weeks turned out to be a terminally shot Fan belt !! Absolutly shreded in one 6" area.

At least it wasn't a snapped oils scraper ring Like i was beginning to think.

I did this, today. Definately easier off car. But I had to change dissy anyway (top bearing square not round) :o

Little clip is way too small, if you do this in the engine and drop the clip thats it game over.

Am I right in thinking that, maybe, the car parked on your bonnet caused the slight failure of the shock absorber mount ?

I'm sure there is something in the Workshop manual about not leaving vehicles over 750kg on the bonnet for long periods ;)

Depending on the curve radius and metal thickness you can get curved tin snips. I use them a lot but always on aluminium to be fair. A powered option are shears. http://www.lawson-his.co.uk/scripts/details.php?cat=Power%20Shears&product=64841 or Nibblers http://www.lawson-his.co.uk/scripts/detai...

Ok I'll try the test again cos it definatly wasn't all plugs out, throttle open.
But to be fair battery was fully charged and engine warm not hot.
It doesn't have a timing 'belt' by the way
Ooops  I should know better than that.

I'll give it another go.
