Early MM brochure

Does anyone know when Morris first produced the original sales brochure for the MM - as below ? IMG_0071.JPG I have a May 1949 dated copy which is the correct age for my car. I have now been able to acquire another copy dated August 1948 - see below. Obviously this was pre Motor Show launch, so woul...

Yes, it's at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon, Warwickshire. Can't remember the exact date of the top of my head though !

Re: 1949 MM Firewall holes

I have a tourer that is a rolling shell in primer. If I get a chance, I'll photo the firewall in the daylight and post up some photos. Will try to do the same with my 49 saloon although can't vouch that it will be 100% original.

Re: What is this called and what does it do?

I've spent ages looking for these in the Parts Manuals for both Cars and LCVs and despite it being a separate part which is bolted in, I can't see it anywhere in either publication, not in Doors or even on the off-chance, Windows..... I'm glad it wasn't just me then. I spent hours poring ove...

Re: Horrible weld help

As manyminors says, they are readily available so perhaps worth buying replacements. If you want to keep these, buy semi structural seam sealer for use in a skeleton gun https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/p/d/b40066975/and lay down a nice wide bead to cover the welds up. It can be overpainted later. You ...

Tom Roy lists new glove boxes for all ages of Minors but you would need to contact them to check availability. http://www.tomroy.co.uk/content/spares Not cheap either but there's not much chance of finding good second hand ones these days.

Re: Low light - rib in body below rear windscreen

As a guess, early cars would be supplied direct from Cowley. From the early fifties, cars were assembled at two factories in India, Madras and Calcutta (as was), so cars were probably supplied from there. I suppose it would have taken a freighter a good while to reach there but then, the early Austr...

Re: Rear arch

If you aren't already a member, contact the Scotland North East branch and see if anyone can recommend anybody in the north who could do that repair. I'm afraid I don't know of anyone in the north who would do it. There used to be a Morris specialist in Brechin many years ago but he's long gone.

I don't know anything about the car but there's a convertible currently for sale on eBay with 2.0 zetec conversion. May be worth asking for more details and photos?

As a guess, you could try something like this https://uk.humbrol.com/products/no-14-french-blue-gloss-tinlet-no-2-50-ml-aq0014 and this https://uk.humbrol.com/products/no-19-bright-red-gloss-tinlet-no-2-50-ml-aq0019 There is a colour chart available too https://uk.humbrol.com/products/humbrol-enamel...

As far as I am aware, the baffle plate should stop water entering the inside but also reduce wind noise.

Re: Help with query on model of car

It's a very old book but still a good one. I think practical classics did this car in the mid to late eighties when the car can't have been much more than 20 years old at the time. Interestingly, it's still on the road somewhere, taxed and mot'd until early 2024. If i remember rightly, they then res...

Re: What paint colour is this please?

Definitely not a Morris/BMC colour. I have seen a Morrises in that colour but definitely not original. Zooming in on the picture shows it could have been brush painted or spray can painted in the not too distant past. Were Marina's and Maxi's not available in similar colour ?

Re: What colour on a Minor? - POLL

Perhaps we should re-run the poll with the full range of colours available from 48 to 71, maybe add in interior styles Andy colours to really complicate things. I can't really believe the trafalgar blue is the best colour. Probably the most common colour but possibly not the best ?

1951 Morris Motors brochure

At a small local show a few weeks ago, I bought (for a very small amount) a 1951 Morris Motors brochure/flyer that I hadn't seen before. It's about 11" x 17", the sort of size you would expect as a newspaper insert. It shows the Oxford and Six saloon, but most of the pages are dedicated to...
