Re: Radiator "scalding" stencils.

Were these used on all models, or just early ones?

Re: Model of my Morris

My brother sent me a model of a maroon traveller, even though mine is Almond Green. So I'm about to paint the real car Maroon B. :D

Re: Traveller - Rust in the rear end

I'm no expert, Pete, just a step or two ahead of you in the learning process. For expertise on Traveller restoration search for the threads on here from NeilMG and Taupe. You'd be welcome to look at my efforts, but I'm in West Yorkshire, nowhere near Kings Lynn. But there isn't anywhere near Lynn, i...

Re: Fitment of aftermarket panels, really frustrating!!

Iain is absolutely right about fitting the metal to the wood. I've been trial fitting my wood for the last couple of weeks and my minor adjustments have included realigning one rear spring hanger with the aid of a large trolley jack! From where you are now I'd do nothing which fixes the shape, until...

Re: Fitment of aftermarket panels, really frustrating!!

Having just had to reshape a new traveller inner wing to fit a new boot floor I share your frustration, but are you sure that the holes you are lining up to were original and correct? My original boot floor had been butchered in a previous restoration and the corner bracket, the one you are currentl...

Re: Traveller - Rust in the rear end

Some photos as promised. Most of the panels are temporarily clamped into place, but these should give you an idea of how the corner is built up. The flange which the arches are screwed to starts off as a separate piece from the rear arch,, and will be welded to the arch after alignment of the side f...

Re: Quietest paint removal tool

Just tried the heat gun method and it's quite promising. Thanks for the useful advice from all, although I don't think I'll pursue Roy's suggestion for the time being.......

Re: Quietest paint removal tool

The compressor is quite well insulated, so noise from its motor isn't too much of a problem. Are the air tools any quieter at the business end? For convenience I'd prefer to stick with electric.

Quietest paint removal tool

My neighbours have been very tolerant so far about the noise I've been creating, but I've got to the point of some serious paint removal and as I don't want to do this with the garage door closed I'm looking for something a little quieter than the flap disks on my angle grinder. Are D/A sanders quie...

Re: Traveller - Rust in the rear end

There are two brackets at each end, one welded to the wheel arch with the bumper iron bolted to it, and one which bolts through this to the boot floor and is coach bolted to the rear pillar. This second one is extended upwards into a thinner oddly shaped bit which fits around the lights and is welde...

Thanks all - pair of MGB cases ordered but it will be sometime over winter before I get round to the engine. If the MGB filter proves OK the spare one will be for sale eventually.....

Re: Disturbing news

The people who need to be considered in this debate are the paying customers, not the exhibitors. If you take your grandchildren to a classic show to impose a bit of your nostalgia on them you are likely to be disappointed by a field full of big wheels and spoilers. If you want to entertain car craz...

Re: Air filter for 1275/HS4

Ah. I was thinking a 1275 must have 1.5s, as I have at least learned that twin carbs only breathe one at a time. Wonder who I got that from? Back to looking for a complete MGB or Metro box, then.

Thanks. I'd already asked and found that there's no base plate! I'm now looking at a pair of Midget filters - anyone want the spare one? :( ko

Re: Door Hinge Screws

If you unbolt the wing it isn't too difficult to cut away part of the cover welded to the back of the pillar and gain access to the fixing plates. Don't cut the whole cover as it provides important stiffening to the pillar. A welder would charge peanuts to patch it back, and it is not visible once t...

Re: Air filter for 1275/HS4

Thanks chaps. I've just been looking in the usual place and came across this ad for an MGB filter box. Did they ever really use these - I thought UK Bs always had twin SUs with pancake filters? But then, I've never had one...... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281762236530?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&...

Air filter for 1275/HS4

I've now acquired a 1275 Midget engine, an HS4 carb and I am looking out for a decent inlet manifold. Is there a common view on what air filter to use? I'd like the engine bay to look in sympathy with the original, and my hope with the engine and carb is usable torque more than top speed. Is there a...

Strongly recommend you read Steve Foreman's section on partial wood replacement in Ray Newell's Morris Traveller book. Rather expensive, but absolutely invaluable advice from Steve, who is the owner of Woodies, the specialist in Traveller wood. Do be prepared for nasty surprises in the boot floor an...
