Re: Oil Gauge
Never seen one before Phil. Normal banjo would cost the same. That's a bargain
Re: Oil Gauge
It was a 1098. I've done it to all of my cars. You can do it to any a series engine.
Drill a hole down the centre. Think drill size was 11mm and tap with a 1/8 npt tap. Any local machine should be able to do it for you for beer money while you wait. Or buy yourself

Re: Smart motorways - Go Left safety campaign
My answer is not to go on a motorway in any classic. Too much risk. In a modern car, easier.
I bet all those with the old poor system of points and condensor must be wary. It would increase your chances of being stranded

Re: What is the cause of half shaft failures?
In my view, unlucky. I've never broken any in 35 years and I dont know anyone else with a rear wheel classic that has either.
My only guess is lack of oil in the axle.

Re: 803 engine. How fragile?
My 1955 A30 is still running fine on its original 803 and gearbox. But ,yes, it is ridiculously slow and really little more than an attractive curiosity. Certainly not a car for everyday use in the 21st century :D I always understood that as the A30 is a little lighter than the Minor, the 803 manag...

Re: Clutch choice.
if you are using a modified clutch shaft, which i would guess changes the fulcrum point and lightens the clutch, would it change the throw of the clutch fork? i am fitting a 1275 engine (all midget) to a 1098 box using mechanical linkage. I have remade my own clutch shaft and have wondered if i need...

Re: Quality tools
what is rather funny is someone who spends 100's or 1000's on a set of tools only to use them once and then sell them on ebay for £90. My take on it is if you are going to use these tools regular then spend good money and look at it as an investment. you get what you pay for in life. If you need to ...

Re: 1098 Manifold Swap
All is not lost I think. You can use a 12G787 manifold (on ebay at the moment) and secure the Hif38 carb with an easily made adaptor plate or just the 2 bolts. I'm sure I've seen it done.

i use a 12G3538 manifold with a hif38 carb on my 1098. I had a larger bore exhaust system made to the same as a standard system. works very well.

Re: Saluting good customer service

They said absolutely. no arguments. what makes it even better is this fantastic company have purchased more of Bull Motif. They now own the Austin A30/A35 ...

Re: Rebuilt 1275-running a bit "out of sorts"
would i be right in thinking the 1275 engine is "taller" than a 948/1098 engine? i mean is the head or block taller?
