Re: can this block be rebored ?
No heating should be needed, check the surface for any imperfections, some fine emery can be used if there are any marks, but it shouldn't need more than that. They are a very good fit though, and don't bash the cam through the oil pump, if it's fitted.

Re: can this block be rebored ?
There isn't (shouldn't be) any oil in that area.
The gears are a nice tight fit on the cam and crank, both should push on together with the chain fitted. Make sure you have the appropriate shim(s) on the crank so that the chain is aligned.

Re: Monte's winter mechanical make-over.
I did some clubman rallying in the early 80’s, but tbh I’ve always had more of an interest in car prep and the mechanical side of things.

Without wanting to derail this thread anymore , do you have any details or a link to how you did the rear discs?

Re: footman james
Doesn't the club have some kind of 'exclusive car insurance scheme' with FJ? Perhaps it should be looking into this and getting a better deal with another company? It's normally just a form of advertising, FJ pay the club £xxxx a year and get a mention in the club mag, then they offer an undisclose...

Leaf blowers, lol. I’m not taking things seriously until patio heaters are banned.

Absolutely, 20 years ago you'd have a full fly mortuary on your windscreen after a decent journey.

Anyone who thinks that any of these shows is anything more than evening entertainment is sadly mistaken. Those who don’t know how to switch channel or even (god forbid) switch off need help

Spotted in Norton St Philip yesterday an interesting looking and sounding pickup, black with red wheels and a non standard exhaust note. Must be local as it passed the pub twice.

Monte's winter mechanical make-over.
Monte has served me well for the summer pool season, but I've been gathering bits and making notes with a view to making 'him' more suitable for use as an everyday work van. So to keep me occupied in the swimming pool off season I'll be trying to achieve the following. 1: Better stopping power. 2: B...

That is correct Phil. What I can't say though is how well it worked as it was an Ebay purchase. But it didn't show any signs of being tight like the one that Declan has.

Re: Differential overhaul
My understanding is that:- The ATA carrier will fit the BTA Housing and carry a BTA crown wheel. The only difference between the ATA carrier and the BTA carrier is the strengthened webs of the BTA carrier The problem lies with the BTA pinion which will only fit the BTA housing. I am happy to be cor...

What do you chaps think of this then?
BTA housing, ATA carrier and a BTA CWP?
ETA: For clarity, the picture of the crown wheel is with it mounted on a LSD not the carrier that was in the diff.
