Wooooo! Success! Well, it ran for forty minutes, twenty of which were driving it and it fired up again straight away when warm. I plugged a spark plug into the king lead and opened the points with screwdriver. There was a spark, but twas very week and orange. My neighbour suggested turning out the l...

When i got my first morris it was gutless (more so than normal). I had to replace the exhaust anyway and whilst doing so noticed some numpty and put a huge dollop of exhaust paste on the manifold, so the poor engine was trying to breath through a hole probably no bigger than a pen! Cleared that lot ...

Thanks for your comments. I'm hoping to have a good look tomorrow in the daylight. The last time it started, I ran a wire from the +ve battery terminal to the +ve coil terminal. I want to check this again, to see if it was just fluke, or if does make a difference. Currently the car won't start at al...

Hi, Thanks for all the help and support! The cap looks fine, (recently replaced as was the rotar arm). I'll check the wire in the distributor isn't earthing out inside. I thought it could be a bad earth, so added a makeshift earth lead which didn't help, then tried putting a wire from the positive b...

Right, well I bought a new condensor and coil, and got home all excited - fitted them but to no avail. More trouble shooting! I put a spark plug on the king lead from the coil and cranked it over, initially there was no spark, then a really really weak spark the second time. I replaced both connecto...

Morris Minor cutting out when warm
Hi All, I wonder if someone could shed some light on a problem i have with my father in law's 62 1024 Traveller. It starts and runs fine from cold, but when its warm and he pulls up at a set of traffic lights it cuts out, and is difficult to restart. A local garage have replaced the carb and the coi...

HORN!
Ahhh! MOT time is here again, happy happy happy. Trouble is, my horn has packed up!
don't suppose anyone has a spare lying around in exchange for some cash?
Mind you, after the rust i've just found, the horn may be the least of my worries!

Will end up with JLH's triangulated radius arm and stiffer leafs on the back, with uprated torsion bars at the front, a JLH vented disc brake conversion, and i'd like some spax adjustables front and rear. Always open to ideas though, the cheaper the better!! Would like to try and sort discs out at t...

Well, it started off as 1098cc, but since then I have bought a 1.8 Zetec to which I hope to fit RS1800 cams, so should be somewhere around the 140bhp mark if I'm lucky. Will be using either a type 9 box, or MT75, whichever the god lord giveth first for not much cash! You car looks and sounds amazing...
