If still no joy,disconnect the cable and see what happens,if it still races,the prob is prob with the carb.

Try cleaning with a wire brush, loads of plusgas,soak over night,another soak..try to move the offending bolt a little TIGHTER,as this may break the bond it has made and if you do slip and round off the bolt it will still have a good surface area on the "undo "parts of the head.Allways use...

Some cheaper brake linings contain some quite large lumps of metal in them! It could be some grit or dirt contamination? try some brake cleaner?

If you do go for the MGF wheels you will need to change the wheel studs and nuts.Fit a spacer on the front,i was told 3mm,however in my case i ended up having to use 8mm,also in my case the rear MGF standard 205 50 16 fouled on the arches.So i used 185 55 16 being the same size as the fronts.I was g...

Unscrew the small one in the middle,pull the back plate off,put the two long screws into the slots,screw the threaded long bracket thingies onto them.Then mount onto the grille,reattach the front of badge secured with the small center one.. hope that all makes sense ?

If you were close to Devon i would give you a hand....i can remember doing a 16v twin cam on a vaux vectra years ago. valve compressor needs to be able to go "deep" into the head if i remember? cam belt easy peasy,no special tools.. just time consuming job..

What have you got to loose James?..if you have a comprehensive tool kit etc,and the time/having the car off the road etc. The car is not any use or of any value as it stands now.So i would do some investigation as to what is involved and make sure any "special" tools are to hand and go for...

Wheel alignment wont help with the vibration,but it is a good idea to have it checked after the replacement of bushes etc. i have seen lazer tracking gauges on fleabay for £70ish i am thinking maybe worth getting??

I had a 4" cut repaired in my sofa 18 years ago and you Still cant see the repair! was repaired by an expert though.
