Re: Heater bypass when using mini heated manifold

I ran for a long time without the manifold plumbed in & connected it one winter the difference was immediately noticeable as the engine ran a lot more stable & the choke could come off sooner . little to no effect in the summer though

Re: Stil backfiring through carb

swapping a couple of leads over can cause it as the unburnt fuel mix can be ignited on the exhaust stroke

Re: Facet fuel pump

If its a higher pressure pump it could overwhelm the float jet & cause mixture irregularities or flood the engine in extreme cases. My MG has a facet pump which runs at about 8psi and is reduced with a regulator to about 1.5-2psi for the Weber DCOE on it as they can be sensitive to pressure, mor...

Re: Facet fuel pump

Yes its normal for a facet pump to run constantly. also do you have a pressure regulator as well as some of the facet pumps can run at quite a high pressure

Re: Engine Info?

I believe the BHM No's are actually the part numbers for new replacement engines. my engine no is BHM1448N have so far been unsuccessful in finding out what it means (not that I've tried very hard) I bought it as an unused short block at an auto jumble, most likely late Ital

Re: Marina engine

The Marina engine has a spin on filter (no springs or plates to worry about) .oil capacity is about the same as a standard Minor

Re: Austin A30 or 35.

My brother in law has had a couple, one was featured in Kim Hensons book. mechanically similar to the midget & Minor so no major worries there (brakes maybe :-? ). As with everything this age chassis condition is key as panel availability is a lot more limited than the Minor

Re: Big Bang !!

Similar thing happened at a place i used to work years ago. one of the lads had just done a major repair to an engine & I think there was still some oil in the induction system which caused it to run away, as it was still on the ramp with the wheels off the stalling it with the brakes on method ...

Re: Piston Rings

In most cases on any engine the top ring will usually be chromed & of a different material spec to the lower rings due to the harder life it has .
Also how were they packaged ? as in my experience rings sets are usually in marked wrappers or packed in order

Re: ESM suspension

Ive had both on mine. The bolt on crosmember type worked ok & was an improvement over the standard setup. I didn't suffer any chassis cracking but the lower brackets for the dampers would break occasionally (may have been down to the type of dampers fitted topping out). I have since binned that ...
