Re: car starts well ish

Don't forget you have to re-torque the head bolts/nuts after a heat and cool cycle and re-set the valve gaps.

If you are a couple of inches short of the required hight you could try letting the air out of the tyres

Re: Engine out tips please.

Thanks for that Simmitc. I wondered if there was a way without removing the gearbox cross-member as I have heard the stories about the captive nuts turning and having to remove the brake master to rectify the problem, the simple job becoming deeper and deeper.

Engine out tips please.

Hello all. I've been asked to help change a clutch and gearbox on a 2 door 1967 model and as the front of the car is all off I have suggested getting the whole engine/box out to do the job. Questions: Does the gearbox cross member and remote have be removed or can the lot come out in one go. Does th...

Read the post properly, he states he has an alternator fitted. Good idea re the relay though if it's a heavy draw.

Re: Won't start

I don't think your distributor drive is a worm I think it's an offset slot drive which means it will only fit in one place throughout the whole 360 degree's.

Re: Generator to run a welder

It's awkward using a generator to power a welding set. What happens is as the welding set strikes up the generator starts working harder and the revs go down which then puts the throttle on more to up the revs, this makes the generator output fluctuate which in turn affects the output of the welding...

Re: Mgb axle

I don't know for sure but I seem to recall from previous threads the MGB axle is a different width to the moggy one, might be wrong though. Surely your best bet would be to have the moggy prop shaft altered to suit your intended set up.

Re: Water pump

Remove the thermostat from the system and do your checks again to see if water is flowing, with the thermostat removed the water should flow through the radiator all the time the engine is running. If not suspect the pump. Make sure you try the check with a bit of engine revs though and not just at ...

Re: My Morris Minor (1971) will not start!!

As I suspected the old fuel has affected the plugs and weakened the spark, white spark equals weak spark and the compression in the cylinder is blowing it out. New plugs should cure it but the old fuel will affect the new ones so you need to do something about removing the old fuel before fitting th...

If it's any use to you I bought a second hand Lenovo T420 laptop for around £150 and can't fault it. It came with Windows 7 that can be upgraded to Windows 10 although I recommend sticking with 7.

Re: STOLEN white Morris minor saloon

I have researched using a tracker and have found they are a bit limited. If you fit one you have to be careful where you fit it as under the bonnet shrouds it in metal and makes it very ineffective and if using an aerial makes it obvious to thieves. Thieves often park a stolen vehicle in a metal con...
