Re: Sleeping in the hot weather

I have two fans one is in the open window blowing the hot air out and the other is in another window pulling in the cool night air, basically just a cross draft.

Re: Our other hobbies and passions

I think i could get into stained glass, I have made a few light boxes from old stained glass windows when new plastic windows have been fitted, It is normally the small openers at the top and i build a frame round with a light behind but i use the plastic layers out of an old flat screen TV to make ...

Re: Our other hobbies and passions

@burnham28 that stained glass looks great, did you make it?, The vehicles are all great looks too, I did look into family history and found 1 or 2 "characters" :o , I collect a few choice diecast cars but sold my childhood cars to a guy who wanted all his collection back, i mainly had the ...

The tone you refer to is what i like, At 51 i was not able to catch Round the horne live, But i love 'Just A Minute' and 'I'm Sorry I Haven't Got A Clue' and 'Round the horne' I have them on digital format and i use an old guitar amp in my cabin to get a deeper sound, The back light sounds good for ...

Palacebear, Stunning bakelite display and the clock looks good with the period power outlet, I was given an old Bush radio years ago with no valves and parts missing inside so last year i converted it after a clean up into a bluetooth speaker and it lives on a shelf in my friends mancave, It just pl...

Well as i suspected i am not the only one that has more than a few things going on, Some great pictures and skills already in here, Engines on a stand all clean and defined look like works of art and i am sure if a gallery was to put a few on display people would see it, Much better than an "un...

Our other hobbies and passions

The forums seem a bit quiet maybe it is all the other parts of life taking people off here, Does anyone else have other cars rather than just MM they are into or maybe even a hobby that is a big part of your life? I have a beetle and mini that are long term slow projects, If you have something diffe...

Re: Your Favourite Roads, Trips, Car Holidays etc

I have always loved going over the horseshoe pass A542 Llangollen, The views winter to summer and night to day were always great, Never done it in my minor but i think a good clutch and a service may be needed. I used to drive over it about 35 years ago when i passed my test in my beetle, The Ponder...

Re: Motivair Compressor

I have a Broomwade AC10 and AC25 pump bodies in storage that i intend to make into compressors, The AC25 is a bit big on single phase but i want to use a 4HP motor and gear it to run around 450 rpm it should make decent CfM and be quiet, The modern compair i have use of now is 2.2KW and it is deafen...

GPO Tool kit roll

I have a tool kit in a leather roll and a brass dust blower, Is this the sort of thing carried in a green morris GPO van? All the tools have a war department arrow and have a "GPO" stamp, There is a date on one tool in the picture that looks like 1955 with a staffordshire knot. https://puu...

Re: Motivair Compressor

I used to work on these type of compressors when they have been looked after they just go on and on, For the price you paid it is a great bargain, The old Motivair CompAir or Broomwade has a good following from collectors, As Phil has said check out the tank, They tend to be way thicker than modern ...

Re: Cup holder for traveller

After a near miss with a cheap travel mug spilled into my lap i now use a nice one made by CAMELBAK, The big advantage is that the cup can be put down and not leak, At around £25 they are not cheap but it is like a flask aswell so it keeps your drink warm on a long run. http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/c...

Re: **Vinyl on MDF**

I use screwfix for spray glue it works fine for carpet tiles and vinyl, £3.99 for 500ml or if you buy more than 3 it is £3.79, I have made a few items from MDF for auto use it does tend to absorb moisture so i seal it with a cheap varnish or i use the green moisture resistant type. http://www.screwf...
