Re: DVLA Records - Previous Keeper History
The change has been in place for a couple of years and had to be made to ensure DVLA was compliant with the latest data protection legislation. It is shame in many ways that you cannot contact previous owners any more but at least we known they are keeping our personal data safe. DVLA are quite hap...

Re: Euphemisms
Far from paying any attention to the increasing voice against 'smart' motorways, or reading the petitions calling for them to be returned to conventional motorway, the Highways Agency are actually looking to increase them https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/m4-m5-smart-motorways-traffic-...

Re: Euphemisms
To go full circle and return to the original post about 'smart' (cobblers) motorways, even our MP's are now admitting the All Lane Running motorways are monstrously dangerous and should be rolled back to their previous state immediately https://bbc.in/3avUGOm (and just a quick clarification, since o...

Re: Euphemisms
Should all people involved in road accidents or possible offences be prevented from leaving the country? ... is a strawman argument - I did not suggest that all involved in road accidents shouldn't be able to leave, I suggested that Sacoolas shouldn't have been allowed to. I would also suggest that...

Re: Euphemisms
I worked in Dover years ago and foreign drivers on the wrong side were a common sight. This was before the cliff flyover was built and all the traffic went through the town. Fortunately they couldn’t go fast there and seeing the other traffic soon put them right. Even so a juggernaut on the wrong s...

Re: Euphemisms
Drifting further off topic, but since it's in the off topic forum anyway I guess that's okay - I saw something out of the corner of my eye on TV today about the fail rate of the software used to calculate whether or not a vehicle has stopped moving and needs a lane closure. I was focused on somethin...

Re: Euphemisms
I didn't see that program unfortunately, but I DID hear this morning that the AA are now going to refuse to deal with callouts on 'smart' motorways and simply wait for the motorist in the next safe refuge for the Wombles to bring along to them. Be good if ALL the breakdown mobs went along with that ...

Re: Euphemisms
I had it a decade ago in an aging S-class Merc (what can I tell ya, I was going through a mid-life crisis and imagined myself as a plutocrat). It was called 'adaptive cruise control' then, if I remember rightly, and would allegedly disengage the cruise control if I got too close to the car in front,...

There's a used parts trader on eBay currently trying to flog a used Traveller rear wing that needs rust repair for just under ninety quid. All you can do is sigh and move on, who 3,he might find someone daft enough to pay it, and if not then it'll be back in a few weeks with a more realistic price tag

What's the translation for "Your call is important to us"? So far as I can tell, it's: "We exploit too few staff to do the job and don't give a [insert your choice of expletive here] about your call or business". Didn't we have a topic about a ginger bush a while ago. No, stop i...

Re: Disgusting behavour by Jeremy Clarkson
I've moved this to 'off topic' which I'm assuming is where the original poster meant to put it anyway to be fair. I'm pleased to see that even with polarised opinions we're all still able to keep things civilised  . By the way, I'm massively anti fox-hunting, but then, as someone would shrilly ...

Re: Wot No Garage
A very timely question - I have been investigating solutions for just this problem only in the past fortnight (although for a - excuse the swear word - Mini rather than a Minor). I've been reading some very negative reviews of pretty much all the covers no matter how expensive, so now considering so...

Re: Cheap winter car
The trouble with a Land rover is the more you use it the more it rots and breaks after owning five I have vowed never again . Nothing more versatile than a decent Landy - I'd never have sold my 300TDi CSW because it was just so flippin' useful. Could take ALL my foster kids, and some of my ma...

Re: Attachment Tab has vanished!
Not so much a 'ghost' in the machine as a 'malevolent poltergeist'. I'll see if I can find time to have a fiddle around with this during the week, but I'm going to be honest and say I'll not devote masses of time to it because this board is living out its last breaths really, and there's little poin...
