Clutch advice please!

Hi, I was always under the impression that a low biting point meant there was plenty of wear left and the clutch could be adjusted. My biting point is on the floor, so i thought id investigate. The adjustment screw is fully tightened so there is no thread left visible, so it seems i was wrong. Does ...

A-post checkstrap thread size

Hi, Does anyone know the thread size for the 2 screws that secure the door checkstrap to the a-post? 2 have snapped off so i need to drill out and retap. I have an imperial tap&die set but only metric drills, so if anyone knows if there is a drill that would be close that would also be very help...

Re: By way of Introduction...

Underway with the bodywork on the front end of the car. I managed to get the front of the old girl undressed and only a couple of repairs needed. All of the bolts needed drilling out - who said taking it apart was the easy bit? The bonnet and front cover panel were shot, although everything else can...

Re: Merlin the traveller restoration

Looking good - mines a similar age and condition - I feel a race coming on :)

I was planning Danish Oil too - although one of these links mentions 'wax being the recommended treatment', I wonder if anyone has any experience of wax vs danish oil?

Re: By way of Introduction...

Ok, I've not made much progress on the car, but a lot has been going on behind the scenes.... I've completely sorted out the workshop. I found some post office sorting shelves (about 50 7" compartments in one wall unit) which make a great store, & now have a couple of workbenches, welding t...

Re: An American Moggie ~ My '59 Morris Minor 1000 2-door saloon

My favourite arrangement is an iphone with itunes and the 'tune-in radio' app. You can fit a 100watt amp under the rear seat with a small mini jack in the glovebox. Invisible ICE. Gives you the choice of radio or music and its unlikely to get pinched as there's no unsightly radio on view. Also allows...

Re: An American Moggie ~ My '59 Morris Minor 1000 2-door saloon

Very intriguing! Looking at your list it looks like there's not much left to try! Other than the other useful suggestions, Could it be that something has contaminated the fuel supply: diesel, water, angry neighbour? :D It reminds me of a new motorbike I had once that had a faulty seal on the fuel fi...

Re: An American Moggie ~ My '59 Morris Minor 1000 2-door saloon

You may as well try all of the easy/free things if you haven't already (apologies in advance if this is obvious). If your fuel supply is good, you'll have unburnt gas in the other cylinders when your running the engine. Take the plugs out and see if they are wet. In which case leave them out to dry ...

Last of the Cowley travellers

Hi wise ones,
I've just checked my maroon travellers no. which is 1257408m. On doing a little research it seems she was one of the last to be made at Cowley. Apologies in advance for the daft question but in practical terms what does this mean? I'm within 17 cars of the last, anyone get closer?

Check your ht leads are all pushed in properly (something could have come loose) and of course dry. Also worth checking your points / distributor cap. Don't be discouraged, its all part of the fun. :)

198 BML - Where is she now?

Hi, A wild shot in the dark, but does anyone know what happened to my parents' beloved split screen moggie, 198 BML? (Also doubled as a washing line). Its not showing on the DVLA register and I know that could mean it was scrapped, or is in a barn somewhere. Perhaps someone knows (or knows how to fi...

Maroon Traveller Project

Excuse my slow typing, the frostbite is causing me jip. Slight change of tack, the weather has been below zero all weekend, and the panels were so cold I decided to remove the interior first. It needed doing and i figured it was a good way of assessing what I've got while keeping warm(er). I've been...

Re: By way of Introduction...

It’s the wrong time of year, wet, icy cold and I don’t have a garage. Nothing else for it – time to get started! My traveller was a surprise present from my wife for my 40th last week and a fantastic surprise it was too! (Maybe she’s trying to tell me something?) The previous owner was lovely and th...
