Does the ignition lamp light up when you turn on the ignition, if not battery connection may be bad. If driver drove it off of the transport, I imagine wiring is ok. I presume there is no battery isolator fitted.

Re: Maintaining DIY Service Records

I suppose it has its advantages being that laid back but we all have different natures, which we’ve either inherited or learnt.
My instinct is to note most things, not just vehicle stuff. It’s almost a self defence thing, just in case !!

My apologies, most owners have discussed some sort of issue here regarding a Minor during ownership but can’t ever recall a post of yours doing so.

Re: Distributor mechanical advance query

I’d start by removing the assembly and giving the parts a good clean, to eliminate any possible sticking.

Re: Beehive Springs -again!

You obviously don’t own a Minor, although not a difficult job it can be a bit of a fiddle, that's why some leave them off, I guess. :o

Re: Beehive Springs -again!

From that it appears Minors are not the only cars to have these springs, if you’ve done it on other cars. Presumably other BMC range, or perhaps more widespread.

Re: Beehive Springs -again!

I can’t fault the logic but I thought beehive springs or not, the shoe springs should always be at the rear, never the front. However, I’m wondering if relying on the shoe springs alone there is a tendency to ‘twist’, bias to the pull of the springs. I think the beehives hold the shoes more ‘squarel...
