Re: Door bottom seal location?
Seems to me riveting would leave space for water to get trapped between the two , making it rust very quickly.

Re: Cracked?
Water condenses inside the tailpipe as it cools down which is what the car is spitting when you start it. What I do on the motorcycle to avoid this is to stick a cork on the exhausts when they're warm after a run which also keeps the exhaust drier inside and helps with rust. Downside is I always for...

Re: Engine Breathing & Oil Catch Tanks
I'd recommend a drip tray, even a car in good condition and no discernible oil consumption will probably leave a few drops from time to time.

Re: clutch return spring,....where is it!!!
You may have seen pictures of a LHD car, where it would be in the left side.
Shouldn't be too hard to find, it's on the end of the clutch lever which is the only thing poking out of the gearbox under the car.

Re: Rubber floor mats
I have 4 of esm rubber mats (Louise's link) in one of my minors. And use the front type as the rear also. So the 4 mats say 'minor 1000' and also as the rears (front type) are longer so they sit under the seat legs and the legs don't dig into the carpets. But they don't go near the main beam switch...

The ESM mats are pretty good, only thing I had to do to mine was open up a hole for the dip switch.

That is actually the correct horn push for an Austin badged LCV, which is rare and sought after, and looks in very good shape!

Re: LHD or RHD, thats the question.....
1000 Euro goes a long way in a Minor, so I'd try and find one in Germany and have that money go towards the car rather than testing it. LHD will be much more enjoyable to drive in Germany, since as you say you wouldn't have good visibility for overtaking on a RHD car, and with the Minor's limited ac...

Re: Smoke from Exhaust
Every single cause I can think of for smoke on startup would have to be in the head or carburetor, but since the car is running well most probably the head so maybe you don't need a rebuild yet after all.

Re: Smoke from Exhaust
Only on startup means the valve guide seals and maybe the valve guides are beginning to wear down. When the engine is stopped, some oil seeps through the valve stem into the cylinder and produces smoke as it is burned when you start up the engine. You could try new seals after doing the tests Roy re...

Re: Radiator "scalding" stencils.
Bull Motif sell a Sticker/Template for £3.95. Not sure if it is a true stencil or a sticker that looks like a stencil though. :-? Used one on my car, it is a stencil that sticks to the radiator, then you use some spray paint, let it dry and then unstick the stencil. Worked very well. TFM, if you're...

Re: In desperation !
Looks like a fuel supply problem then; check the fuel filter on the pump is clean and that there are no obstructions in the fuel pipe. An infrared thermometer is inexpensive and would definitely help determine how hot the engine is getting and if that's a reason for concern. (Check the cylinder head...

Re: Computer screen
If its the mouse pad on the laptop what's happening is that it "thinks" you're using two fingers at once to zoom in-out. Check that in fact no other part of your hand or arm is making contact with the pad and if not, it could be a hardware issue. This page here explains different ways to t...

I found this old Bosch plug on a BSA I'm restoring.[frame][/frame]Didn't know Bosch had ever produced plugs in Guatemala, from the looks of it and the bike's history it's probably from the 60's or early 70's. (And still looks like it would work)

Re: Which voltage regulator
Another point to consider is that the Bull Motif regulator is probably a repro, whereas the one on your car might be an original Lucas unit. If this is the case you'd be making your car less original. If going for concours or 100% originality you'd be better off looking for an original Lucas screw t...
