Re: Front hub assembly
Good news! I have used a (very) slightly thinner split pin to get it in. Incidentally I've never come across one where the split pin has been locked in position when I've removed it. ie one where the split pin has had to do its job of preventing the nut coming off. Maybe I've just been lucky. Regard...

Re: Front hub assembly
Hello Mark Although I'm a MM newbie, I've come across this time after time with other vehicles. Tightening a bit more usually works, but I agree there does come a point when you fear for the thread. If you get to this point, rather than trying to thin the washer, I would take a smidget off the nut f...

Re: Advice please
This is the car.

any comments/thoughts from the pictures?
The rear of the inner wing on the passenger side under the bonnet looks a bit rough to me, but very difficult just from pictures.

Re: Advice please
Thanks for the replies. I'd seen the MoT history, which obviously can't tell everything (or even very much!), but it told a story which sounded OK. I'm passing by Newbury tomorrow pm so I'll give them a call today and see if I can call in. I'd still be interested in any experience anyone has had wit...

Advice please
Hello All New member looking for a traveller. Visited Charles Ware today and was delighted by the reception and the time Andy spent with us talking about what we want. I think I understand where they stand in the market. They have nothing in stock to suit us just at the moment so I'm still looking r...

Re: Door catch repair
Glad you found a supplier. Just for reference, these people http://www.albertasprings.co.uk/ have made unobtainable springs for me. They are friendly, reasonably priced considering they are one-offs, and prompt. They wanted to know what my example spring was off so they could make another for someon...

Re: New member and "Anybody know this car"
Had another look at the advert I mentioned in the first post and can see the patched wood. Just for my future reference for when I go to see a car, am I right in that, with the exception of the wood around the wheelarch which is in 3 parts, all other wooden members should be one-piece? Regards Ian

Re: New member and "Anybody know this car"
Surprising (or is it?) that there seem to be quite a few people with Minors and Austin tens. Hopefully I'll become one soon, but you are right that a good look around is in order.

Re: New member and "Anybody know this car"
Thank you. I thought the wood looked a little "dark" in places as if it had been wet. I agree, I don't like varnish. Should the finish be oiled? We are going to be passing within 10 miles of the dealer next week, which is the only reason I found the car. I would like to buy a car which clu...

New member and "Anybody know this car"
Hello All I'm a new member and live in Buckingham. I've joined the club before buying a car, as I'm hoping for some assistance. I have a mechanical background and have owned several classic motorcycles over the years. I also own an 1935 Austin 10 (hope I'm allowed to mention that here!). I'm capable...
