Re: Vanessa '68 2dr saloon

There's a lot of really , really good work being done. As your experience has grown , the quality of the work rises. You are the Chief Quality Controller and you have some very clear specifications as to what is acceptable and what isn't. Well done that man ! As I said in the early stages , crack on...

Re: Heated rear screen wiring?

It's a plus 1 for an extra fused box. My mate wanted " just one or two " additions to the electrical system when we re-wired his Moggie I put a secondary fuse box inside the car under the dash. Count up how many feeds you need and allow for a least a couple of "spares " positions...

Re: Heated rear screen wiring?

One option for you to consider is a timer relay that will switch off automatically after a certain time. You will need a " beefy" to cope with the electrical load of a rear windscreen. Here's what I had in mind : - https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/836 . I've used the Company ...

Re: Ignition switch wiring

Carsten , If it's a 3 terminal ignition switch ( ? ), the wiring diagram for a " saloon " says : - 1. To Starter Motor Colour White with Red tracer wire ( via Solenoid ) 2. Two wires Colour both White wires a. goes to Ignition warning light b. goes to the fuse box for ignition controlled c...

Re: Pickup restoration part three

Dave , Glad you were able to blow away a few of Alice's cobwebs whilst "travelling for your daily exercise ".It was a super day weather wise. Still need a few parts for my pal's Jag to finish off the refurbishment of the bits but 75% of it done. It's certainly kept me sane over the last co...

Re: Rear Valance

If you've done the Restoration Bodywork course or are a professional body shop guy or gal......then it would be an easy fix. It's always difficult with just photos to fully assess what work needs to be done. Quote " only some surface rust " ?? My definition of that is no more than 30 minut...

Re: Pickup restoration part three

Dave , Well done. There's always "sum-mat to do " on a classic car , but after a restoration your mind is problem solving attuned. Confined to barracks as part of the 70+ brigade , my mate has brought me some " homework ".In lieu of my weekly visit to his garage , to work on his ...

Re: Stiff door hinges

Have you tried " lifting " the door ever so slightly. A decent lump of wooden batten , under the bottom of the door.Out with the hydraulic jack and " just " take the weight of the door off the hinge. Either spray or finger in grease into all the joins. Release jack and work the d...

Re: Vanessa '68 2dr saloon

Can't fault your logic , on the order of tackling the sill areas first. It's never good when you find " more rusty bits " but it's always better to find them now and not when you think you've finished. You'll have the satisfaction of knowing it's ALL sorted at the end of the resto. Well do...

VAN doors on Ebay

Hi Folks , Spotted these whilst browsing a well know website. A bit of rust just below one of the windows ( internal ) side but otherwise looks to be pretty solid. No connection whatsoever with the seller. Just the ticket for those who are trying to source a pair of doors. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm...
