Just checking something
I am fitting a msniflow exhaust system along with manifold it seems the first silencer is nearer the rear axle unlike the original one being closer to the front of the car ...is this ok ??

You are right but quite a few second hand. Charles Ware replaced mine recently. Have you checked the wiring and the sender unit which may be a source of problems rather than the gauge itself. is it possible to fit a aftermarket fuel gauge to the Morris to by pass the original one has I think its on its way out
something like a smiths one??
my Morris is a 1960 with a gold faced speedo

they seem to be a snug fit
the other option i thought was fitting a grub screw through the wiper arm into the spindle the idea of taken the car to the supplier might prove a small problem LOL I'm in N-east Scotland and the supplier in in the south east of England
