Re: Any tips for a new member?

Beehive spring fitting tool for rear brakes Not the easiest thing to find these days, unless someone on here has the link to a supplier? I got lucky years ago but couldn't find any online recently. Needless to say, if anyone offers you a set of old spanners or sockets never turn them down, you can ...

Re: yoghurt pot heater mod

Steve Baimbridge of Mostly Minors, mentioned here a couple of times, sells a metal bracket to achieve the same as the yohurt pot. I had a look to see if 'Mainly Minors' had a website, intending to post up a link, so people could search it for this part (much like ESM etc.) but I can't seem to find ...

Re: Dynamo charging rate

Don't go blaming the Dynamo I'm not blaming anything at present Berni, simply seeking information. I watched a video on U-tube that goes over what you mentioned above and covers the two adjustment screws on top. So, with my meter as a guide, I am thinking of adjusting his charge output up and then ...

Re: Traveller rear doors security ?…

When new/unworn the two tangs cast into the handle and the appropriate slots in the timber prevent the handle from rotating even with the screws removed That's interesting, I have just removed mine to change the barrel (the little tag on the back had snapped off the old barrel, preventing it from l...

Re: Pull starter

If it is the starter solenoid then there is only one way: Disconnect the battery lead (from the battery and then the solenoid) and the lead to the starter motor by undoing the two nuts (1 & 2) on the front and removing them. The solenoid itself is held in place by a nut (3), which with the sole...

Re: Betty ! The Morris Minor. Is the Car familiar to anyone ?

I have a friend who has completely rebuilt a black four door that allot of people thought he should scrap. He's made a lovely job of it and is justly pleased with his work. Also because of this journey with car he has bonded with it and will probably never part with it. So Stick with it, so long as...

Re: Traveller rear doors security ?…

As above, the more you secure it, the more a determined thief will damage trying to break in. I had a mechanic friend who used to leave all the cars on his site unlocked, in case of a break in, for this very reason. Of course the best deterrent for thieving scumbags is the application of a baseball...

Dynamo charging rate

Hi, I just tested a friends car with my digital meter, as he was concerned that his dynamo wasn't charging properly, I then looked up what it should be reading to confirm my thoughts, this is what I found, via an online Google search: Anything between 13.5 volts to 14.5 volts tells you the alternat...

Wiring diagrams

Hi, For those on here thinking of rewiring their cars but who don't have access to a workshop manual and who would like a hard copy in colour of the diagram for their model, I saw this in passing and thought it might be of use: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324756532902?hash=item4b9cff6ea6:g:2IUAAOSwT...

Hi Zuma, A bit late to this post I admit, however welcome to the wonderful world of Morris Minor ownership. You are now on the long and winding road to complete insanity....... 8) No, not really, they are great and easy to work on, you will soon pick things up. My first Minor was a 1963 Trafalgar B...

Re: yoghurt pot heater mod

Whilst I agree this was probably originally intended as a 'workaround' solution, while the heater in question was either repaired or replaced, I also can't help but see the advantage of the extra heat in the colder months. and even saw one car at a rally where the owner had made a sliding bracket t...

According to the DVLA 'WKT 619' is still showing as untaxed since 1996, so is it still there?
Shame if so, I bet it's not so shiny now :-( ...............

Mike.

Perhaps it's time for a new wiring loom.......
Not as difficult as it sounds, I replaced the loom on Sally, following the diagram in the workshop manual.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Re: Draining water coolant from engine block

Hi, I've had the issue of a blockage at the back of the engine a couple of times on cars I've just bought. As said above, caused by a build up of crud. I like to flush engines through once I've got the car home anyway, before renewing all the fluids / filters (a good service). I connect a hose up t...

Re: Old AA boxes.

Now on a quiet bypassed road, previously, before motorways, on the main road to North Wales and a hugely busy A556/A50 junction. I remember this being manned, if i also remember correctly, there was a wooden hut next door that was a membership advice/enrolment centre. Those were the days. Oh, for o...
