I would be interested, although I'd need to know a price to commit fully.

Re: jacking point label

Aha! Much obliged, and thank you. I'm still many years away from labels for the 1949 "USA" Tourer, but a man can dream ... thanks again.

Re: jacking point label

LOL, "Alta and MM porn," had missed that one! Searched the forum for "jacking" and found nothing about labels.

The porn thread did have pics of Rob's bonnet-lock and voltage-regulator labels, but nothing for jacking points ??

Re: jacking point label

Ohhhhh ... could you post of a photo of the label? I think I vaguely recall Rob T making repro labels for something, not sure if it was that.

And I'm curious about the answer as well!

Re: MM & early SERIES 2 GLOVEBOX LID CLOCK

Can anybody tell me the thickness of the glovebox where the clock is inserted?? I have made a 3D printed housing for the clock and should have it on Saturday but I would like to know the final depth so I can make a fixing arrangement. Your best bet might be simply to borrow a glovebox lid from a ne...

Re: Series MM wheels and brake adjuster holes

Interesting! So perhaps the brake adjuster holes were ADDED to the wheels at one of those change points. I'll ask a friend who has a Feb 1949 car to see if he's got holes or not. I have Heritage certificates - low-light build date was 27 - 28 June 1950, as a LHD car with despatch date of 30th June 1...

Re: Early Series MM wheel decoration

The painted one-piece grille came in from March 1951 (RHD 90117 / LHD 89727), but the plated two-piece grille remained an option. Sometime late in 1951, the one-piece grille became the standard fitting (RHD 114041/ LHD 110577). If I'm reading the parts book correctly, that is! Thanks for that info. ...

Further info: My April 1949 "USA" export Tourer has four wheels that I believe are original, but NONE of them has brake holes.

Re: Series MM wheels and brake adjuster holes

Not sure about the wheels, but the brakes themselves were modified twice in early years. Dec 1949: Hub/brake drum, stub shaft, outer bearing & cap, steering lever modified (RHD 31790 / LHD 12338) Mar 1951: Front and rear brake-shoe assemblies modified (RHD 90318 / LHD 89910) If your rims are ori...

Re: Early Series MM wheel decoration

I'd like to know this as well, for the ever-growing list of Series MM running changes. May be hard to pinpoint, though, as it's not a part change indicated in the parts book. Perhaps as an austerity measure when painted hubcaps (briefly) and/or painted grille came in during Korean War? My question i...

I think so far we're down to May 1950 ... but can we further refine it? :)

Re: Lowlight with demister vents?

Would it be possible to get serial numbers from everyone who's posted with 1950 cars, along with whether or not they have vents? Manufacture dates if you happen to have a Heritage Certificate would also be helpful. Colin's 1950 Tourer may throw a spanner into the chronology, but perhaps not if that ...

Re: Lowlight with demister vents?

A little late to the party with this one. My Nov 1950 Lowlight has vents but no water pump. However, they did have heaters. They picked up hot air from the radiator which was circulated with a fan in the car. So instead of plumbing to carry water through the firewall from the engine coolant, does y...

Re: Lowlight with demister vents?

My June 1950 manufactured LHD export low-light has demist vents (see picture below). It was exported with no heater and no water pump, so why were vents incorporated in the dashboard? If a June 1950 car has fascia vents, then it wasn't the four-door (Oct 1950) that pioneered them. I wonder if the v...

Re: Lowlight with demister vents?

The car in the eBay advert is listed as a 1951 car, but *home-market* two-door saloons and Tourers got their high lights in Jan 1951 (RHD 83390 / LHD 81585). So this car would had to have been built sometime between Sep 1950 and Jan 1951. That could be confirmed by a Heritage Certificate based on it...

Re: Lowlight with demister vents?

Fascia ventilation ducts were introduced in Sept 1950 on the four-door saloon (RHD 62551 / LHD 65004). They were presumably added to the two-door and Tourer shortly thereafter, but I don't have a precise date or serial numbers. BONUS factoid: The early Post Office vans from 1953, the ones with openi...

Re: Series MM split screen installation

One tip from the invaluable Frank McDonough: If you don't have windscreen panes, or even if you do, having new ones made using 5mm glass rather the standard 6mm makes installation that much easier. You do have to be sure to use the thick-rubber gasket between the two halves (behind the dividing pill...

Re: Series MM split screen installation

Geoberni Thanks for posting the manual excerpt. What's shown there are the "Early" type I described, used ONLY from Sep 1948 to Oct 1949 (to RHD 26102, LHD 10607). You'll see they have the inner metal moulding shown that screws into the windscreen frame attached to the body. It also shows ...

Re: Series MM split screen installation

Paul Your 1949 car will have the "Early" screen installation I described, but your 1952 will have a totally different installation. Your later car will not have had the inner metal surrounds that screw into the frame, and it likely doesn't have the screw holes in the inside of the frame th...

Re: Series MM split screen installation

Just to point out here that there were (at least) two types of Minor split-window screens. "EARLY" (Sep 1948-Oct 1949) The kind used from Sep 1948 to Oct 1949 only (to RHD 26102, LHD 10607) has an inner metal moulding, chrome strips that fit over the inner lip of the windscreen surround, a...
