Re: Traveller handbrake cable
Same problem with my traveller which is why I did a search in the forum and found your thread. As above, I have two new cables installed and despite using the threaded adjustment , the handbrake only really bites when the handle is almost vertical! It will probably not be acceptable when the car has...

Re: Cruising Speeds 1098cc Motorways etc
Good to know this information - I drive my traveller of 1098 Motor but 3,9 differential at about 100kmh on the Autobahn when needed. It is a bit noisy and has a horrible vibration induced noise that needs more investigation but otherwise a real pleasure to drive. A couple of years ago I drove it dow...

Re: Car will start and occasionally drive a few miles, then splutters and stops!
It is never the coil but..........one of the low tension wires had come off! I slipped it back on noticing how loose a fit it was . Engine started no problem. Back home I was able to press the spade connector so it was a tighter fit. Then a new test run just now in the sunshine - all ok! Perhaps th...

Re: Car will start and occasionally drive a few miles, then splutters and stops!
It is always nice to have feedback from problems when they are solved. I Removed the cover of the float chamber which in itself made for a new problem in that one of the cover bolts was a bit stiff and sheared off. For the moment I have drilled and tapped into the embedded bolt M3 and secured it bac...

Re: Car will start and occasionally drive a few miles, then splutters and stops!
After its winter hibernation, I went for a short drive and got the same symptoms which is new to me as since the 10 years I have had the car, this has never happened before. Engine cuts out, wait a few minutes and it starts again , then stops and repeat the whole procedure. The fuel pump has always ...

I used a SN 4421 800 from a mini after fitting a 3,9 diff. . You need to experiment with the pointer setting to give a reasonabley accurate (in my case) kmh reading.

Re: Identifying stamped plate ?
the top two pics in your post show the chassis (modern VIN) number and for your 69 model this number is( often as not "was") stamped on the RHS floor well,
The other one is the car body number. i seem to remember, that the body number had nor particular use......true?

Re: solid brake pedal
The lack of free play continues to be mentioned but never addressed. It can only be the master cylinder preventing the release of the residual pressure with the symptoms reported. The floor cover over the master cylinder must be removed. The push rod must move a bit before contacting the piston. Yo...

Re: differences between 1000 and 1098
Indeed. My original 1098 traveller from Hartlepool had the Chassis nr starting with MAWD which , after DVLA digitilisation became MAWO. When I went to re-register it here in Germany I wanted to change it back to the proper number but this would require (I jest) a law passed in the Bundestag so i dec...

Re: 1098 mpg on E5 fuel, what are you getting?
Don't know about mpg. miles are for US Ame3ricans and have not seen a gallon since the last century. My 1098 Traveller fitted with a 3,9 diff on a measured run to Freiburg ca 400km away did 5,9 lit per 100km despite being driven mostly at a steady 100kmh (very noisy) on the AB. I thought this to be ...

This is why many modern 'comedians' are so bland and boring, too worried about offending someone or not being seen as 'politically correct' / 'on message'.................... Plus allot of people are extremely 'thin skinned' these days.............. I could go on but I'd better not..... Best...

I do not think I am colour blind but I do have difficulty in remembering colours. Unless , for example I see a blue car and then physically note that it is blue, should anyone ask me later what the colour is, I wont remember.

Re: Vibration noises - where are they?
That is worth looking at when I do the LHS and can easily take the air hose off to check. That will have to wait a bit.... At the moment I am driving around in the sunshine with my nearly restored Triumph Herald 13/60 cabrio which also has a squeaky door when driving along....Incidentally , we call ...

Re: Vibration noises - where are they?
Yes, the engine noises, or suspension noises always need to be looked at. I get an loud "clonk" sometimes when making a right turn. It is not from the suspension - I suspected the exhaust but it seems quite fixed. No, the infuriating and annoying vibration rattle from behind the facia has ...

But it would be nice to , and is part of the challenge , to get it into pristine order. Or at least as near to as one can.

Vibration noises - where are they?
I have an intermittant noise from behind the facia, mostly when taking my foot off the accelerator pedal. Now, I am not looking for any advice on what it might be as I need to remove the glove box panels and investigate myself. Without actually experiencing this aggrevating rattle yourself, noone ca...

I avoid Goggle as much as I can. The least support for US American multis the better. Thus use "Startpage.com" for searching - as you are not tracked and "openstreetmap.org" for your maps. and routing. ... oh, and do not forget to alter your computer language settings so it defau...
