1098 Diff Ratio
Hi,
Just wanted to confirm that the Diff ratio for my 1963 1098cc Minor is 9/38 (4.22: 1). I believe this is what they're meant to be but I can't find it stamped on the Diff anywhere, however I don't believe it has been changed from standard.
Thanks,
Mike.

Re Article in March / April edition: Unsafe sex?
Hi, I feel I must respond to this article, which basically says that statistically men are worse drivers than women: Over the last eight months I have had three rear end shunts in my Minor and on each occasion the person who drove into the back of me was a woman!! (Sorry girls) On each occasion I wa...

Minor Medics, Milton Keynes
Hi, Just a quick question, does anyone know if minor Medics is still in business in Milton Keynes? I drove round there the other day and it seemed very shut, with no old minors parked outside anymore. The phone number seems to be constantly giving the engaged tone?? Though this could mean they are r...

Re: Servo assisted brake conversion.
Hi, Thanks for your response, yes, I have ford vented discs at the front, already fitted. I have all the bits (I hope!!) to do this, as I bought the kit off David Manners Morris Minor Centre in Birmingham. I just thought it would be good to sound out others, who had experience of doing this, as dri...

Servo assisted brake conversion.
Hi, I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions on the best place to source the vacuum feed for the servo from, when fitting the kit. The instructions I have with the kit suggest tapping into the inlet manifold, is this the best place?
Regards, Mike.

Re: Oil pressure or the lack of??
[b]Interesting, as I tried this first as I had a T piece already and the gauge wouldn't work with it (the T piece wasn't blocked), though it now works fine on it's own.....

Re: Oil pressure or the lack of??
Hi, With regard to oil pressure gauges (and indeed other classic look gauges) I have now taken the above advice and fitted one supplied by: http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/INSTRUMENTS-/-GAUGES-SMITHS-CLASSIC/c1_271/index.html I chose a 'Smiths' electronic gauge and bought the corrisponding electr...

SU HS4 1 1/2" carburettor
Hi, Can somebody tell me what this other feed is for? I know that the fuel feed goes into the swirl chamber; there is a small nozzle with a black rubber cap over it at present (just visible in the picture poking up at the front) which I believe is for the vacuum; so what attaches to this other outl...

Minor survival: Ref: Nov / Dec issue:
Hi, I was reading the latest issue 'Mailbag' section and spotted two enquiries about former family Minors. As I was on the internet at the time I thought I'd have a quick check on the DVLA site, as I read so many of these 'can you help us find' appeals in various classic publications but never see ...

Re: Oil pressure or the lack of??
Hi, Thanks for your replies, this turned out to be the oil pressure relief valve and spring sticking open! Replacement of said offending items seems to have cured it. Once again, many thanks. Mike.

Rear leaf springs
Hi, Is it possible to upgrade the suspension on the rear of my saloon by using replacement leaf springs for a Traveller (7 Leaf) or even the heavy duty van ones (8 Leaf) (or are they too long to fit into the existing fixing points??). I regularily have a full boot and carry well fed () adults ...

Oil pressure or the lack of??
Hi, My problem is that when I depress the clutch the oil light comes on, yet when I blip the throttle it goes out again. This problem seems to be worst when the engine has warmed up. I have had a mechanic listen to it and he said it sounded ok, so I have purchased a new oil pressure switch online (h...

Hi, I am looking to do the 5 speed conversion myself, partially because I think my gearbox / clutch are heading west (well the old girl is 46 years old now :) ) and partially because I would like a smoother gearchange as she gets regular use. Could you tell which Escort you sourced your propshaft fr...

1098cc Exhaust Manifold
Hi, Just a quick question about the manifold: Is the exhaust manifold off a 1098cc engine the same size / fit as one off a 948cc engine? Thanks. Mike.
