He's said it's a 940. And has also said it's a 1.5 inch HF4. Which I presume to be a HS4.bmcecosse wrote:AAA for a 940 head - but will be far too much fuel for a standard head. What carb is it - and what manifold?

I ran an AAA in mine with the same set up, with no problems.

Re: uprated brakes - front and rear.
I find the standard rear brakes lock up all too easily as it is. I'd leave them alone unless going for a lot more power.

Re: Suspension Geometry / Wheel sticking out
I'm pleased somebody else has stumbled upon the greatness of black minilites too! :D [frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1375824924_13309 [/frame] Islip Minor. Most disc kits seem to space the wheel mounting face out a bit. I found about 10mm per side when I converted to Marina discs. I belie...

Re: Suspension Geometry / Wheel sticking out
I've been playing a lot with very similar things recently.
I'd say a thin spacer as bmcecosse suggests, and go down to 175 tyres on the front. Keeping your well treaded front tyres as spares for the rear.

How about putting it up on the bulkhead like the earlier minors did anyway?

With that Reg number - does it not get Free Road Tax??? I thought I'd look that up on the DVLA website... The vehicle details for NNA 137W are: Date of Liability 01 04 2014 Date of First Registration 01 08 1980 Year of Manufacture 1971 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1275cc CO2 Emissions Not Available...

...I look at the waterpump, and notice it's turning...
Is it weeping water or oil? Oil only comes up to the head behind the bypass hose (roughly).

Saw a very nice sage green saloon on the M25 near St Albans this morning and a lovely bright red convertible with tan hood and black wire/alloy wheels in Hanbury, Worcs this afternoon. Driver was wearing a natty panama hat :D I don't know of the red one you speak, but it sounds a lot like another m...

Slot mags are soooo common
Is it not worth selling them and buying some the right PCD?

The infamous head is less infamous when put into a minor, as far as I've heard (from JLH themselves if I recall).
The problems in rovers were down to cooling, not the engine itself. And in the minor, you can get plenty of cooling!

I can't see any mention of a tilting function. Yes, they recline, but you might have to sit there and twiddle the adjust wheel to let people in the back... worth finding out before investing!

When you're stuck with 4 inch PCD, choices are limited!

Well I think they look spot on. And are supposedly the best size most equal to standard for gearing's sake.
The arch gap would be remedied by a mild lowering ;) at the front certainly.

Re: ALLOY WHEELS now fitted.( photo)
Cool. I'm getting some of those wheels soon. Good to hear they fit the back with 195's, but may have to go narrower on the front to keep them inside the wings, as i've got discs up front!

Very nice!
What size are the tyres? And do they fit within the wings fine?
Are you just on drums on the front? Or changed to discs? (Discs space the wheels out a bit)

I got mine for £6 from Tom Roy at the national... but it turned out to be cheaper in halfords (who'd have thought it!)

Re: Where to buy coach line strips?
You can get it in common colours from halfords. So white or red should be no problem.
You need 6 metres for a Minor.
