Do you want to confess?
Now is the time to confess;
Me first. - After painting with Hamerite I bake small items in the oven at 50 degrees C for 60 mins. It gives a really hard gloss finish – ideal for brake back plates etc..
I try to do it while she is at work and then percolate some coffee to cover the smell when she gets home!
Next please......................

This message board is like a family - you can't choose the other members!! But remember engine oil is thicker than water.

I have filled the bath with a 3" layer of dilute citric acid to de-rust some items over night, and cleaned the bath just before GF came over for the weekend.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Yes. I have unmanageable hair. Shampoo is useless. the only thing that does the trick is copious amounts of 1001. So I thought I would make the best of the water that was left.Lets get this right do you mean you were in the bath and cleaned two sets of carpets
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

I might have built 2 engines in bedrooms of rented accomodation. The first was from a Chevette with a melted piston. The second a reconditioned 1098 for a van I had at the time.
In a strange twist on Murphy's Law, i have found that it is not possible to do this without making grease stains on the carpet.

I've defrosted a frozen radiator in the bath (rented shared house - not too popular, making the bathroom smell of old car).
I've heated many parts (especially copper washers) on the gas stove.
I've cleaned many parts in the kitchen sink.
I damaged my nice new kitchen worktops when charging a car battery (the acid mist / spray is not good for glossy worktops)
I've had car parts stored in every single room in a 3 bed semi.
Turned my back garden into a messy scrap yard.
Leaked diesel, engine oil and EP90 all over the road in front of my house.
Spilled petrol and old engine oil on the back lawn.
Ran an air-cooled car on the lawn for an hour in summer - all the grass died.
I tend to use old brake fluid as weedkiller in the back road.
I often use my chopping board in the kitchen for rebuilding carbs/heaters/brake cylinders/ etc...
I've painted various things on the lawn.
I never got in trouble for any of this (apart from the radiator in the bath) - It pays to live alone

The various leaks from my many mz's, my ex's mz's, and my beloved mog combined to completely destroy the roadsurface outside the house I used to live in. Then a large lorry came down the road and what at least looked stained but servicable disintegrated into large ruts of oily gravel...
