how many do you see?

Post by cliff »

On my daily travels around my area i see three minors parked on the road, two on driveways and two on axle stands, that's five regularly used (not including mine).

They certainly brighten my day.

How many do you see on a regular basis?

How many other old cars do you ever see that are used on a daily basis?

There's 2 that pass my house regularly both traffy blue, a traveller and a 2 door. I see a smoke grey traveller regularly on my way to work at 6:15am and a maroon van on my way home at around 8pm. So thats 4 regularly seen, I also know of 3 parked on drives round here that don't move.

There are around 10 classic cars in the village where I live, all on the road.

I see a few every day, but they're mine. In town there are about 3 or 4 that I see occasionally.
I sometimes see a shiny black one parked in my street - I know he's been there based on how many big oil slicks are left (it had a 'new' troublesome engine fitted a few months ago and has left oil everywhere ever since :( )

Aug 07 & Aug 08 - back from the Lands End to Orkney in 71 pickup
Sept 2010 - finally gave up breaking down in a SII Landy...
where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block :(

This shiney shoed dutch bloke has bought a new sump gasket now :D

Let's hope that sorts it.

I used to see about 10 Minors everyday... but then they were near/at work :D

In a village of only 150 houses we have 4 two in dailey use 1 comes out on high days and holidays and mine. Thats about 3% of households! (there are another 8 or nine classics and vintage cars that only appear a few times a year).

I see four regularly, one hasn't moved for about 2 years and ones mine.
Another is a mint traveller which only pops out on sunny days.

Oddly I thought the moggy would be rare but I've actually found one of my old cars, a mk1 XR2, to be far rarer despite being a good 20 years newer.
What would Macgyver do..?

This time of year I tend to see 2 or 3 regularly with an assorment of other classics but during the warmer weather this can treble in numbers.

Well there are 4 Moggys within a mile of my house and only one of them stays in the garage for the winter... I can see my mates 66 Morris Oxford from my comp; room window, he uses it regular.... and another friend who lives out the back of me has a 1934 Morris 8... he keeps that garaged during the winter but gives it the occasional run on a nice day

When I first got my traveller (over 10 years ago now) I used to see 5 or six coming the other way if I drove to work arriving at around 8.15. Now 10 years later I'm lucky if I see one to flash or wave at

Where did all the Minors go?

nah - some are still at Cam's house too.

If only people stopped hoarding them and let other people have them, there'd be a lot more on the road ;-)

About half a mile from me there's a black 'C' reg saloon and I see a laid up LCV when I drive through Sipson. I haven't seen any others recently.

When I lived in Brizzy / Bath I used to see loads - not even counting people I knew who drive 'em; I think there's a good 5 or 6 that I'd see with fair regularity, who didn't have MMOC stickers or come to the MMOC meets.

Out here in Slough, I've not seen another minor. And maybe 2 or 3 other classics, none of which I've seen regularly. I saw one on the M25 once on my way home :-)

I saw a shiney black one tooting along on the outskirts of Darlington, , he was heading in, I was heading to the bypass, as I turned into where the football stadium is, I saw it again, whizzing round the roundabout
