How about two bouncy castles? One for the kids and one for adults.

I remember you lot. You were playing Russian Roulette with the heater hoses removing one at a time with the engine running hot to find the blockage. :o :)

Showers? We were camping, for heaven's sake! If you want a shower book in at a B&B.

As for food: what's wrong with cooking it yourself? That's what we did. I defy any catering van on the planet to improve on our dinner on saturday* or RogerRust's breakfast on sunday morning**.

Some people are too soft.***

*Sausage casserole. Very nice indeed.

**Bacon rolls, cooked in the open air on a fine morning.

Probably the same place as the other 13 toilets that were supposed to be there!

I spoke to Andrew Stone on Saturday night and he had ordered 30 toilets but they never showed up. Surely that is something he is taking up with the hire company along with the showers. I will happily pass on all of this post for his comments if you'd like.

I am sure it must have filtered back to him that the showers never arrived? It is now a week ago and I guess some form of compensation from them is long overdue. I can only assume that these were booked well in advance so there must some contract..................Its a bit difficult to loose 13 toliets and umpteen showers and then not have them turn up at all.

Actually if you organise a big event, it's quite easy for these things to happen - that's one of the reasons I'd never have the courage to organise anything like a national rally for thousands of people (that and the fact that I leave everything to the last minute and hope it all falls together). At a guess I'd excpect the lost toilets were still stuck in a muddy field at someone else's event when mud/floods etc.. had left them unable to retreive them quickly enough.

I'm glad to see someone is going to pass comments back to the organisers, otherwise we're just creating virtual hot air.

Having been to Stanford Hall a few times in the distant past when I used to live nearby I can say that it has lots of experience of holding big car rallies. It has ....

lots of space ... plenty of room for games, football etc?

a lake where they used to hold hovercraft championships .. raft race?

easy to get to as its on the M1 M6 A14 junction

a big house that I have never been inside

it holds the British fireworks championships

a replica flying machine of Percy Pilcher ... birdman of Stanford Hall fancy dress comp?

http://www.stanfordhall.co.uk

It would be nice to have

A drive in clinic for your Minor to identify those funny noises - for a donation to Marie Curie? Advice for restorers starting out on what needs repairing etc. as a way of saving a few more Minors.

Drive in Krypton tuneup for your Minor. Get a man with a van on site.

Silly competitions which involve finding Minors / committe members on the site.

Shopping trip to Magna Park in Leicester for those not interested in Minors.

Encourage the local scrapyards to bring along some restorable projects for sale .... make it reasonable for them.

A few more of the traders who advertise in MM being encouraged to attend .. make it a condition of their advertising in MM next year (blackmail).

Another club to join us and show us up - how about the Vintage Minors, local Minis etc?

Send small convoys out on the Sat pm to visit the local nursing home, special school in a few of the local towns (Rugby, Market Harborough etc) to cheer folks up.

Ask the Melton Mowbray pork pie association to have a stand.

Just a few thoughts ....

Consider this - the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are out every weekend in the summer. It wouldn't be much of a detour to get them to do a fly-past over the site, perhaps even on both days. They just need plenty of notice and they dont charge!

Spitfire, hurricane, lancaster and even a dakota!
