Brooklands sounds a great idea!
Are there any other BMC clubs we could club together with???

Obviously it would be much better to share the day with other BMC cars rather than a load of boy racers in their Audi's or something similar. Here's the events calendar but it's empty for 2005 to date.

Chris,
If you need a website for the event
(like this year's one: http://potteries.mmoc.org.uk/WebsiteRally ) give me a shout and I'll knock it together by modifying the old one
Hopefully by then we'll have our own URL too!

Before we start work on next year's Rally website we need to agree dates and the venue. A new thread would be in order too, although there's no hurry. Does anyone (who intends to come) disagree with Brooklands as a venue or even having the rally in the South East?
Personally I found the M25 a nightmare on the Sunday evening during the holidays. May or June would be better I think.

Cleaned up...The triple entry posting is unusual.
Any particular reason not not to keep the date the same as this year? (Just wondered).May or June would be better I think.
I think Brooklands is a good idea for a venue as it might encourage a few more folks to turn up. It seems that it is probably better to hold the rallies in the south as the Northeners (on the whole) don't seem to mind travelling as much

Aye... them Northerners are hard as nails...Cam wrote: I think Brooklands is a good idea for a venue as it might encourage a few more folks to turn up. It seems that it is probably better to hold the rallies in the south as the Northeners (on the whole) don't seem to mind travelling as much
As for the Scotts, well...They're harder than nails
And us East Anglians... ~We're not as soft as our southern cousins either... All that open sky, bitter northerly winds and no Motorways for miles...

Sorry about that - a few months ago probably half of my posts came up twice, so I always checked them afterwards. Recently it stopped happening so I didn't check this time. No idea if this is an intermittent fault with my ISP (Wannado) or my computer - I notice it never happens when I post from work. Also I'm not the only one this happens to.The triple entry posting is unusual.
Cam - my major objection to July is the heavy holiday traffic on the motorways (this time I was nose to tail for 15 minutes on the M25/M4 link) and the possibility of ending up driving in the kind of heatwave we had last year. Not funny in a Minor with limited cooling options for the driver. Plus (being selfish for a moment ) if I'm working then July is the hardest time to get a day off.

Chris, yes July is bad for the holidays. It's just that I was thinking of the students who have exams in June, so maybe May would be better?
Could some of the students on here tell us when the exam period is?? I think it's around mid/end of June but I'm not sure. Although I work in a University I don't have much to do with the students so I'm a bit out of touch.
June also seems to be quite busy on the rally front so maybe May would be better? Opinions folks?

Cam, I think I would prefer May as well. It should be fairly warm and not too wet.
Ray - looks like my nickname (slick ) is out of date. I've changed the rocker cover gasket (Rover part no. 112052, only £1.43 from Halfords!) and the oil leak seems to be history . I guess I'll have to spend another fiver on degreasing spray to clean the engine bay though...

Cam, at sussex uni (dunno about the others) the exam period runs from mid-may to the end of june depending on which year you are in. 3rd/4th Years, then 2nd and then 1st. Ps. Is it staffs uni you are at?
Might I suggest that if there has to be a date change (last time seemed fine to me) and in light of chris' moaning about july that sometime in the first fortnight of august......../.

If I was super rich, then I might be able to afford a PC for home & that would reduce this ridiculous time delay I suffer on Mondays .
No chance of flying y'all out here.

I WAS at Staffs Uni until last December, now I'm at Wolverhampton Uni and due to move to Newcastle Uni in September.Cam, at sussex uni (dunno about the others) the exam period runs from mid-may to the end of june depending on which year you are in. 3rd/4th Years, then 2nd and then 1st. Hmmm........ that might not be too bad an idea. So mid May to end of July seems to cause problems then.

So you have to travel twice as far now, by Newcastle you do mean Under Lyme and not the far North one.I WAS at Staffs Uni until last December, now I'm at Wolverhampton Uni and due to move to Newcastle Uni in September.
Cheers

Kevin, unfortunately I mean Newcastle-upon-Tyne! I will be living there during the week and coming back to Stoke at weekends (well, some weekends). Nightmare situation really and VERY expensive (running 2 houses), but it's only for 12 months until my current research contract expires.......
Unfortunately I will have to leave my cars in Stoke too
