Hope you make a full recovery and return to the morry world.
I hope you dont mind me asking, but do you have a picture of the vehicle? im interested to see where the car has deformed and if it has a 'safety shell' like modern cars do.

Re: Serious car accident in my '51 Morris Minor
Wow its been a long time since i logged onto the best forum in the world. I hope everyone is doing well. I'm all healed up, my knee still gives me pain, but who doesn't have pain right?
Here's a picture of the car, i know some people wanted to see it.
Also, if anyone wants to see the damage to me then you can click on the links below (not for the young ones):

Also, this is probably not the right place to post this but some might be interested. I have been building a 1946 traditional styled hot rod. I've gone back to my roots and am using SUs! (well the Japanese copy of the hs4).Here's a picture:
I built the velocity stacks for it, and while I am using air socks, They can be shortened for use with a normal filter. I can make them any length and for any SU carburetor. If enough interest is generated, I may be willing to build and sell them. Furthermore, i can create more of a "bell" on the stack but i like the look of them this way.

Hah, i should have clarified. The accident was late May 2009. I'm totally fine now other than some knee pain.

The Minor actually doesn't look too bad...if you lobbed off the front, it'd be beautiful, and almost the right shape. All thanks to that impossibly strong roof, I suppose. It's a well-designed little thing.
I am so glad to see you nearly mended (and, yes, grossed out but humbled to see the photos of you in the hospital). And it's a wonderful cautionary tale about semis -- those things are frightening as all hell if you get near them! And in a little car like a Moggie...gives me shivers. And at least in America, oftentimes the truck drivers aren't tremendously skilled -- or simply not paying close enough attention!
Downsey, I hope to meet you one day and compare limps. And maybe in the future I'll see you on the road in a Morris Minor.

The way to a man's heart may be making food, but the way to my heart is buying me car parts!
Come read about my Minor at An American Moggie.

Glad to hear you have mostly recovered! and sorry to hear of your loss of car, although it was over a year ago these things do stay with you. The photo's of your face in hospital made it look like you'd gone 9 rounds with Mike Tyson!downsey wrote:Hah, i should have clarified. The accident was late May 2009. Looking at those pics, I have to agree with Fingolfin. Yes, the car is beyond economic repair, so is almost certainly a cat C if not B, but if a keen restorer had access to a Jig and hydraulic puller, it is surprising what can be achieved, especially with the excellent panel availabillity of the Minor.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO
