Winchester Morris Garage 1966
Does anyone know what the name of the garage in Winchester was that would have supplied my Morris EAA 440D when new?

I think it was Martins garage on Easton Lane, Winnal but I'll do some more research.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Re: Winchester Morris Garage 1966
It was probably Wessex Motors in St Cross Road which subsequently became Henlys. Henly's closed around 1984 - Wadham's were in Easton Lane which subsequently became Tilbury's. They also had a site in City Road which, strangely enough, has been demolished this week! Tilbury's took over as the sole Austin Rover dealer in about 1984. The Martins group (VW in Basingstoke) bought them out and are still there with Nissan and Renault franchises. I think my facts are correct, but feel free to correct me..I've only lived in Winchester for 41 years..

Re: Winchester Morris Garage 1966
Hi Neil you have a choice
S & S Garages Ltd, Weeke
Wadhams Ltd, 16 City Road, Winchester.
Wessex Motors Ltd, Morris House, St Cross Road, Winchester
All 3 are listed as retail dealers not main dealers.
S & S were Morris only the others were various BMC models.
The Winnall garage was for Tractors & called Curtis,Padwick & Co Ltd.
Hope this helps.

Re: Winchester Morris Garage 1966
Thanks everyone, I have a virgin copy of a BMC Passport to Service book, there is a massive temptation to start filling it in, I spoke to the elderly lady who used to own Wilson, but told me the old boy, was actually an old girl called Valentine after she purchase it on February 14th 1967. The lady stated she had the car for 29 years, and did 30,000 miles in him, (sorry her..wait no he's definitely a He, my girls said so).
It's really nice to speak with someone who can actually give you some real life stories about the car, she went on the first test drive and it snowed, she purchased it for £450, and the day she sold it as she handed over the keys there was a massive thunderclap, she has regretted getting rid of the car ever since, so was chuffed to bit's when I sent her some photo's showing her the old boy is in good fettle.
She thought it may have been Henlys garage, so that ties in with her recollections, it's just the type of stuff that makes you proud to be keeping some part of our country's history on the roads, because the way things are going history will be all we have, everything else is doomed apparently!!
