Phyllis ~ 1962 Morris Minor 4 Door Deluxe
Black coachwork with Red Duo-Tone Upholstery
Hey this is my first post - and I'm a young member of the MMOC! (At twenty-nine, I believe I'm still a teensy bit younger than the average owner, maybe?) My form of transport is 'Ector - ECT 105D - a gorgeous green Traveller, and I also have an adult tricycle as I never learned to ride a bike - now THAT's unusual, apparently - and I've been known to wander around with a furry costume on for fun occasionally, so I'm known for being a tad eccentric!
Waffle over, carry on.
Relfy...thanks you!!! SO there is a Cornish branch! I went to a Devon branch meeting but it's a bit far away really.
Furrtiv, there's a few of us young 'uns on here. It suprised me when first came on to find how young some owners were.
Sorry Dizzi, i forgot to follow this thread... Yes there is one - so I hear! I havn't actually got myself into gear to follow it up yet. But as far as I know they meet in Camborne or Redruth. I'll try and find the bit of paper with that lady's no. who i know goes to it, or ask John ... and send you a pm.
Hello Furrtiv , I would say 29 is positively old. Even Kevin's younger than that.
(Just kidding. I'm 25 by the way, and I reckon there are quite a few of us on here, though I'm new too).
It suprised me when first came on to find how young some owners were.
As I have had Moggis since I was 17 it didn't surprise me so much, but what did surprise me was that there are some of the 'more senior' members using the website a lot.
And why does that surprise you so much? Some of us have grasped the basics of this new technology despite being at school before pocket calculators were invented, before the days of colour TV... Eeee, back then, Morris Minors weren't classic cars, the most you'd pay for one was £85 (honest!) etc etc , rambles on nostalgically... Indeed, some of us have even worked in the online departments of certain British publicly funded broadcasting organisations. Just out of interest, do any grown ups (over the age of 29!) use the message board?
Well I use this board, am over 29 by more than a few minutes and am a member, so does than put me in the minority or not? As for being a grown up how can I say, its only when my childrens friends call me Mr I know I'm supposed to be grown up, Doh! do I have to be?
I log on to this message board frequently and I can remember when you could go to the cinema ,have a couple of beers in the pub afterwards and a fish and chip supper on the way home and still have change from sixpence
I guess I'm younger as I can only remember as far back as when I could go swimming and get chips on the way home and stil have change from 50p...
but I'm nearer 29 than some others... I never used chalk and slate at school
