Keep enjoying the convertible over there in Hong Kong , I think your hood will be down a lot more than ours here in sunny N. Ireland !
Re: Daisy finally arrives in Hong Kong
We have only had the roof up a couple of times, once because it looked like it might rain, and once when it was so hot and sunny that her indoors was getting too much of a tan !! Without any doubt Daisy gets far more use here than would have done in the UKkjm wrote:Keep enjoying the convertible over there in Hong Kong , I think your hood will be down a lot more than ours here in sunny N. Re: Daisy finally arrives in Hong Kong
Lovely car how does the registration system work over there ?? we would not get away with that over here
Re: Daisy finally arrives in Hong Kong
Hi Hi !! The way private plates work in Hong Kong is that you go online and register your interest in a specific number which can be pretty much anything you like so long as it is not indecent in any way or conflicts with specific government plates such as he ambulance / police service etc. Then you pay a minimum auction preserve deposit of HK$5,000 ( about 400 quid ). You are then notified of the auction date and you then have to bid against anyone else that may be interested in that number. Wh1tey would not be popular amongst Chinese bidders, so I got it at the minimum reserve. Some plates go for millions here in Hong Kong !! Would be a great system in the UK too.....and I suppose its only a matter of time before that happens.irmscher wrote:Lovely car how does the registration system work over there ?? we would not get away with that over here

Re: Daisy finally arrives in Hong Kong
I think that would be fairer than the way registrations are handled now it looks like you are having a good life there and Daisy is looking great after that container ride but alt least you are reunited .

A superb example. Well done !
Re: Daisy finally arrives in Hong Kong
Daisy is off on holiday. I have just loaded her up into a container with a friends Frog Eye Sprite and they are both heading off to Naples, Italy. They will arrive around the 20th May and on the 29th May, Boss Lady and I ( and Keith and his lady boss ) will be meeting up in Naples to collect the cars from the docks.
Our trip will take us up to Rome, then through Chianti, across to Pisa, up and around to Portofino, then up through Milan, then Lake Como, after which we wiz straight up through the central Switzerland Alps down the Saint Bernardino Pass, then into France and up to the UK. The trip will take 2 weeks after which I am going to drop the car off at Charlie Wares for a full respray and the car will stop in the UK ( Leicester ) for the summer. Then in the first week of September, Daisy and the Frog Eye sprite will be shipped back to Hong Kong to arrive in time for the end of September.
Ive packed a few bits and bobs for the trip, under the boot floor - Full spare bulb kit, fuel pipe, fuel filters, spare coil, dizzy cap, 2 rotor arms, spare electronic ignition kit, spare fuel pump, fan belts, box of nuts and bolts, cable ties, grease spray, WD40, oil, grease gun, hammer, full set of open and closed ended spanners, scissors, duck tape, electrical tape, 3 meters of copper brake pipe & assorted fittings, brake pipe flairing kit, 3 arm puller, ball joint splitter, scissor jack, GB sticker, headlight adjustment stickers, two high vis vests, breathalisers, tubeless tyre repair kit, set of front and rear wheel bearings, rear wheel cylinder, assorted clamps, exhaust assembly paste, gasket sealant, full set of engine gaskets, long spare HT lead, feeler gauge, full set of new spark plugs, and of course the kitchen sink !!
Should be an exciting trip !!
Follow the trip on Daisy's Facebook Page...I will try and upload videos and photos each day as the trip progresses.

A friend of mine told me im a complete idiot for doing all of this, so I quoted him the following : “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
